You need to tell us what you are driving, if towing, and if Baja roads are new to you.

I agree with David 7 to 8 hours, that is figuring the dirt portion at 1.5 hours which is pretty slow.

We are driving a suburban, not towing anything, are comfortable on dirt and paved baja roads and have been driving in baja for 30 years, probably 1-2k
a year. amazingly enough I haven't been south from San Felepe to hwy 1 since I was a kid and certainly not since the road has been worked on. We are
looking forward to seeing the changes. We were planning in stopping in Gonzaga Bay for the night although right now I am having trouble finding
anything with rooms in the Gonzaga Bay Area on May 2nd so we might have to drive through to LA Bay or GN. As we don't really want to camp for one

I do the dirt part in 2 hours, 20 minutes. I go slow because the road is bad. I'm thinking longevity of my truck. There is more traffic on it now

2.5 to san felipe. 2 to Gonzaga. 1.5 to the Hwy. 1 to BOLA. 7 total.
Alfonsinas at Gonzaga says they are sold out often, but he always seems to find a room for you. That's a busy time but let him know when you get there
and he will most likely set you up, or you get a palapa for 1 night...... things could be worse.David K - 4-22-2015 at 09:46 PM
As Honda Tom says, go to Alfonsina's... it is worth the 2 mile trip to the motel/ cantina to see the view. Once there, have a meal or a beer, meet
Antonio (or who ever is in charge, perhaps one of Alfonsina's sons) and ask if there is a room for one night.

The hours are bout right IF you have done this route many times. We the routine users of this route know where the dips are to what curves to slow

I would think +8 hours. Dirt road may take more than 1.5 hour, depends on your and passengers comfort level. Then there is about 130km/80mi to Bola,
this 1.5-2 hours. The last 40 miles to BOLA were in poor shape after the Odille when I left the town in February. Quite a few graded patches where you
don't want to drive faster than 30 mph.
