Día de los Muertos in San Felipe?

VegasNick - 4-30-2015 at 11:06 PM

My wife found out that this is the end of Oct/first of November so we could push the dates up for our trip. Is San Felipe a decent place to join in the Día de los Muertos celebrations? I am guessing it is fairly amazing to see for the first time.

I am not sure what you are expecting? But, I have been in San Felipe and Cabo for the fiesta. In Cabo the kid's went to the Mall and go to the shop owners for candy.

In San Felipe the kids came to Pete's Camp, where we happened to be and everyone gave them candy or cash.

The families gather at the cemeteries and cook out and have a get together with family and friends.

As a photographer, I took a bunch of photos in Cabo last year, but I wouldn't say it was anything spectacular.

Just my 2 cents, 3.5 with inflation.

Here in Vegas they have small parades and they host a big fiesta in one of the city parks. There is a lot to see during the weekend celebrations.

for amazing DdLM festivities, you need to visit mainland Mexico.

Ensenada

There are individual celebrations in the big cemetery in Ensenada. It is interesting to walk through the cemetery and see the bands, the food, the decorated grave sites and listen to the music. I believe it was November 2nd last year.

Bigger deal in Mexicalli. You will see when you pass through by the cemeteries on the way to 5. There will be traffic control and tons of flowers for sale gifts for the dead and a lot of people not paying attention to traffic.
