"baja is green" seeds

There's talk about vegi seeds in this post. Can anyone here go into detail why seeds are being given to the locals? Hell...we have access to seeds by the zellon. I'm a landscape company! Who can use these seeds?

Don't you think seeds are a great gift to the farming families in Baja? Varieties they don't have and a way they can grow more food...

Hey...greenhorn here! I never heard of the seed need. I am heading down (or past) Alfonsio's in two weeks, how I do "find" the family in need? Or do you have few you can recommend. In speaking of needs?perhaps for all of ?us? greenhorns, the host of this site should start a Topic thread so we know who?s in need for whatever type of item seeked.

That's a neat idea... Let's ask BajaNomad (Doug)!

Probably the back country ranch and farm families could benifit.

The families that I visit in the mountains are very poor :bounce: and have very little access to quality seeds for their gardens .... the stores in town are of little help. The ranchers rely on others in the area to share when they come across something special. The ones that are in need the most are:
1. large tomatoes. beefstake style
2. green chili ....... anaheim or big jim style
3. radishes ..........champion are the best
4. lettuce .............different varieties for different temps.
5.broccoli .............a favorite ....
6.califlower ..........heat resistant ....
7.bell peppers .....a favorite ....

I took a friend a pack of BEEFSTAKE TOMATOES a few years ago in SAN ZACHARIAS and before he could get the seeds in the ground .... the mice found the pack in the palm frons of his bamboo hut and emptied the pack. He asked me 6 months later if I could get him another pack ..... NOW...when I give seeds away . I include an empty PEANUT BUTTER JAR ..... :light::o:bounce:
ANTONIO ARCE who lives at ESTACION in SAN ZAC. grew ONE tomato that weighed ONE kilo 700 grams .... that is 4 ounces short of 4 pounds. It doesn't take many to put some nice red in their salad.

If I had to limit the seeds that I purchase for my friends .... the most important would be LARGE TOMATOES and the second would be GREEN CHILIS ..... bounce::bounce:
