Planning a trip to Bahia Asuncion. Better to pay in pesos or dollars at Pemex Stations and other businesses south of Ensenada and San Felipe?
Have recently found exchange rates favoring paying in dollars between the border and those two places.chuckie - 5-20-2015 at 12:27 PM
Keep it simple...use pesoswoody with a view - 5-20-2015 at 12:27 PM
pesos. otherwise they calculate the exchange rate while you bend over and hand them the $ and the Vaseline.....Udo - 5-20-2015 at 12:30 PM
I agree with Woody!Osprey - 5-20-2015 at 12:35 PM
What part of Mexico do you guys travel to? What's with the bend over thing? I use pesos so I don't make the seller MY BANKERS, so they won't have
the job, choice, opportunity or risk of being my messenger. Who's cheating who around here anyway? Go into business down here, then decide the answer.
Give it a rest. bajaguy - 5-20-2015 at 12:42 PM

Pesos in MexicoAlm - 5-20-2015 at 01:07 PM
Very rarely they would have a good exchange rate. So - pesos is better.
Don't count on using credit/debit card either. Quite often they won't have a terminal for cards, or their terminal would reject foreign-issued credit
card.woody with a view - 5-20-2015 at 01:08 PM
with an exchange rate near 14-1 and you show up with dollars to fill a gas tank taking 25 gallons they will advertise 11.5-1 and that is getting
screwed because you were too lazy to buy pesos.Bajaboy - 5-20-2015 at 01:18 PM

Woody, if you need to buy some pesos at 14-1, I'd be happy to help you out.woody with a view - 5-20-2015 at 01:46 PM

Woody there are a couple of ATM in El Sauzal. My favorite is by the Fish Taco stand in the north end of town. Most of the time I get them from my bank
before I go.Trueheart - 5-20-2015 at 06:19 PM

Pesos, pay for things in pesos. Take the "banker" out of the hands of your provider. You'll run into "enough" circumstances where you will
appreciate having had pesos rather than $$$ to pay a bill. Can you use $$$? Sure you can, in most circumstances. But again, with repetition of
purchases, you'll appreciate the advice all are giving here. Use pesos, or at least be prepared to use pesos.
BTW, I think I asked a similar question to yours a decade ago. I have learned the sage advice on this is just that.
Now go enjoy! Salud!Von - 5-20-2015 at 06:49 PM
