Ophthalmologists in the La Paz area?

rufflife - 6-1-2015 at 09:26 AM

I am wondering if anyone can recommend any Ophthalmologists in the La Paz area. Bilingual a plus, but more concerned with finding someone who comes highly recommended.

Thank you!

hola rufflife,

as i have eye problems too, i copied this post about 7 or so years ago.

i have also spoken with people in la paz that have used the sons services and very highly recommend him.

i met an american man in los barriles at chapitos market that told me he was told in the states that they could not repair his detached retina. he told me dr. lechuga did do his surgery and was successful. he also said dr. lechuga was knowledgeable of all current eye problems and he also had the latest equipment from the states.

this is the post i copied and saved over the years:
I have glaucoma so have to go to an ophthalmologist. Have been going to him for five years.
However, his cost is $40 per visit and he is very thorough. Speaks excellent English . Young. His father is also an ophthalmologist.
There is a "glasses" store right next door, but one can do better, price wise, in the greater La Paz area.
Dr. Lechuga (Fausto Miguel Lechuga Ortiz) is located next door to the Fidepaz hospital. (the purple one on the way to the airport).

I have two phone numbers: 621-124-1651 and 612-124-0400. I believe the young man who works for me makes my appointments using the 0400 number, which goes through the hospital. Dr. Lacuna's hours are 10a.m.-2 p.m. and 4: p.m. - ? .
I would be happy to answer any other questions you might have about this fine doctor. Cathie Ward

i hope this helps.
