Password change?

BajaWarrior - 6-11-2015 at 04:36 PM

Hola Nomads,

Been a member here for years now and always had the same password which I rarely need to log in on my home computer.

I received a U2U while at our place in AZ. and I wanted to read it while away from home. I never use my SmartPhone to log on but wanted to read this U2U.

Well my phone didn't like the password which I know by heart and had to get a new password sent to me.

Problem is, the new password is 13 random numbers and letters and capitol letters.

How the heck do I choose my own password? This is ridiculous!

Does this help? It's in the FAQ link at the top of the page... Otherwise, just ask Doug.

yep, that's what I did and I went from a 5 digit password with one capitol issued to me in '06 to a high security 13 digit password issued when I went through that process.

Years ago I had bought a new computer and had forgotten part of my short password so I did contact Doug and he just reset the one I guessed on, he also said he did not have access to anyones password, it was assigned through his program.

Edit for trying to post an image, huh, it worked!

Same thing happened to me, twice! FAQ doesn't address how to change my password back to something I can remember.
Can I do that?

Edit; I just noticed this was not the Bajanomad support forum, so if some one else can answer, I won't need to bug Doug.

Change

I think......

Top of page by u2u, click on "User Control Panel"

Then click on "Edit Profile"

There is an option to change your password......YMMV

Good luck........

Now that some good advice has been given, I will give mine.

The best password is your username and 12345.

Try "BajaWarrior12345"

No one will guess that, especially with those numbers at the end!

Thanks Bajaguy, I found that option! I haven't tried it yet, but how tough could it be?

I have been scratching my head trying to figure out what 'YMMV' means, but I give up. What does it mean?

Saw a news report the other day where a white hat hacker (a hacker that finds vulnerabilities in systems and reports them to the system owner so they can be fixed) was able to crack a strong 8 character password in less than a minute using his powerful computer system.

He said the longer a password, the better, and recommended using sentences you can remember as passwords.

I'm going to start doing that. I wonder if I'll run into maximum length problems.
