My by-pass road is Highway 5. I'm done with 1 from the border to Laguna Chapala.
Agree, and sadly so will hoards of other travelers... bye bye to a quiet Gonzaga Bay!
The only thing I miss doing the Hwy. 5 bypass is El Rosario, one small town with great folks and nice surroundings. Can we get Antonio to build a Baja
Cactus Motel and Pemex at Puertecitos?ncampion - 6-16-2015 at 01:04 PM

5/805 --> Highways 1/5 intersection
- via Tijuana/Highway 1 = 362 mi
- via Tecate/Highways 2/5 = 382 mi MMc - 6-16-2015 at 04:14 PM
From my house the they meet is about the same, but the 5 route seems like it takes for ever. I love the pacific side.
Maybe Baja Catus will build on shell island and DK will have it allrts551 - 6-16-2015 at 04:22 PM
The road is not being finished for the billions of tourists that David think will be coming. It is being built to improve economic development of the
region and to provide alternatives for the trucking industry. I don't think its a sad think.StuckSucks - 6-16-2015 at 04:37 PM
rts agreed, the road is for economic reasons (the semis south of Coco's already prove that). BUT the bi-product, for good or bad, is what's coming
when the road is completed.
Along with "improvements" in Gonzaga, a small community will grow around the 1/5 intersection with OXXOs and motels.
Just ask one of those thousands of RE/MAX signs.mooose29 - 6-16-2015 at 10:41 PM
I too am a fan of the 5 and avoiding the 1 because of all the traffic. Cappy - 6-17-2015 at 03:49 AM
The road from San Felipe to Puertocitos is getting so bad. Ruts, pot holes and dangerous vados. Some day my kids will be stopping over at uncle Cocos
truck stop for supplies. I haven't gone the 1 in years
