Weird seeds or insect nits?

Santiago - 6-18-2015 at 07:04 AM

These are 4X4 tiles and in this corner of the counter they are covered with these little nits or seeds. Very small. If you clean it off, they will be back in a couple of hours. Under the cabinet as well as the open area. Any idea what they are. I've been up a ladder looking over everything and can't see any source.

Some art of fruit fly? Do they crunch if you squish them?

sure looks like termite poop to me amigo

Robertofox - 6-18-2015 at 07:39 AM

Looks to be termite dropping to me too. Check under the cabinet for any "push outs" from termites. Like little bumps and you can scrape them off easy.

Oh, and check your rafters too. I just saw it in the next picture.

Termite poop for sure...

Do they dissolve or run when you get them wet? It seems like the wrong place for them, but they remind me of flea droppings I found where my dog had been laying down. They kind of dissolved into a reddish steak when wet.

Doc says it's termite poop. great. Someone says mix up some borax and water, spray with a garden sprayer.
Any other home remedies?

Dry Wood Termites. Very hard to get rid of, don't think "home remedies" will work.

There are more than one type of termite, but the "sawdust" I have so frequently seen in houses in Bahia Asuncion comes from critters with no contact with the ground. I was told they were beetles living in the rafters and joists. Virtually the only sign of them is the dust they make. A dry wood termite does not need water to live, and need no contact with the ground. Get your best hand lens and take a good look at the termite feces. Dry wood termites pass a cylinder with several flattened sides and about half a dozen ridges running longitudinally. I was a home inspector, not a pest inspector, but I'd recommend a fumigation.

The termites we have at BOLA live in the dirt. Spray with boric acid mixed with water.

I have the same things in my place right now and it is dead little flies that are attracted to night lights. There is an infestation of them now after the last rain. I used a magnifying glass to identify them. It is either flies or poop with wings.
