Place to stay in Bahia de Los Angeles

sbsyncro - 6-22-2015 at 11:12 PM

I'm heading down in a couple of weeks for some Spearfishing with my son and a friend (it will be my son's first trip to Baja!). Normally I stay at Guillermo's or with Pedro at Cangrejos [sic]. Just want to make sure I'm not missing out on another option that has good AC and a place to "spread out" a bit (we end up with quite a yard sale with all our gear). We also typically spend time vacuum sealing fish fillets (not cleaning the fish- we do that on the boat) so having a spot with a table and electrical is super handy. Thanks!

Guillermo's is my favorite!

Thanks. It its convenient because there's a "restaurant and bar" right there, and the fishermen all launch from there in the mornings so you can sees who's coming and going. The AC was a bit under-powered the last time I was there in mid-July, but plenty of space outside for our " spearfishing yard sale" and fish fillet packaging operation over cold beers each day.

Anyone know how to reach them over the internet to reserve a room? I'm in Italy right now and I don't think I'd be able to make a successful phone call...

Thx.

Thanks David. I'm on a really bad connection in Sicily and can not get the page to load, but I'll try again later.

In my notebook I have the email address lucygalvan2009@hotmail.com but I'm not sure it is still current.

That is the same email provided in the link I found for you. The 'outside Mexico' contact phone number is: 011-52-200-124-9104 (the 011-52 part is direct dial entry from a U.S. phone, so Italy is likely different).

Thanks David! I'll shoot them an email.

It always seems the prices are better if you just "show up" but sometimes it can be tricky to get a room with 3 or 4 beds.

Please let us on Nomad know how your trip turns out! L.A. Bay has several options of places to stay, most are not on the water, but close. Try Costa del Sol if Guillermo's is full... it's on the highway in town.

If you have trouble contacting them via email, even though we are in Poland, I can have someone in Baja make the reservation for you - just send me U2U with details on dates -how many people etc.

and be sure and post a trip report when you get back!

Not sure if this guy is still at BOLA....

...but if you really cant find a place to stay:

Used to land my plane at Casa Diaz and park it right in front of my room! AH the good ol days.
Slept on the folding burlap "cots".
Anyone else remember them?

Yup, just how we slept too... Too hot inside the rooms, everyone slept on the cots out in front and watched the stars. That was June or July, 1967 for me.

There were more planes in front of the rooms than vehicles... I think my family (Jeep Wagoneer) and the Anderson family (Land Rover) were the only drive in guests!?

I slept in one of those cots as recently as Aug. 2013.
