Hotels in Conception?

JZ - 6-24-2015 at 10:52 PM

Are there any places to stay in Conception this time of year. And do they have AC?

Or is it only that Buenaventura place that had that 50 page mess of a thread. What's the latest with that place.

I can tell you this; that 'mess' is just that, slander and nothing more. They have a guest house available, dunno about A/C, and it will be well worth your while if you're looking for comfortable and cozy conditions. No hotel, hasn't been in 10 years. They're off-grid and on generator power, so hot water-time is pre-negotiated. Restaurant/bar right next door.

Please, try to ignore all the BS that has been bantered; all hateful troll-spam and defamation. Why else 50 pages???? Think about that. It's a legit place, and they're legit people. the guest house is very comfortable, the perks sublime.

I'm willing to bet that by page two of this new thread the same old CRAP is going to start up again; love twines, hate festers.

You dont want to go inside Concepcion, this time of year, unless you have AC (or a GOOD fan system) and water for fairly frequent showers. You will be in the water, CONSTANTLY, because of the heat. That's hard to do, at night.

Many areas of Concepcion get cut off from breezes by the surrounding hills.

And stay away from any mangrove areas as the no-see-ums can be particularly bad, this time of year.

I guess Bob and Susan have a place in Concepcion. It also may have some of the best breezes in there. But anchoring there could be iffy, if the wind comes up.

If you're arriving by boat, I'd recommend just doing a half day in there for swimming.

JZ, are you in town? I hope to be crossing over to that area tomorrow by boat.

Flying into SC today. Let me PM you.

JZ - 6-25-2015 at 08:56 AM

I totally forgot about their place. That might be the best bet for us.

David K - 6-25-2015 at 09:11 AM

It is super nice, and Pacifico is served! Do watch out for the man eating attack dogs, however!

BajaGlenn - 6-25-2015 at 11:24 AM

Bob and Susan are really nice people also!!!:biggrin: We had them for neighbors some time back!!

Bajahowodd - 6-25-2015 at 04:58 PM

Bob and Susan's place is not by Concepcion. Farther North. But certainly a nice place to stay.

SFandH - 6-25-2015 at 05:09 PM

Actually, their place is within Bahia Concepcion, somewhat close to the entrance. I think JZ is on a boat and will be looking for an anchorage. Playa Frambes is not a protected anchorage, the water there can get more rockin' and rollin' than the more popular anchorages further within the bay.

And there's no air conditioning except for private homes with generators, except for Playa Frambes.

Uh, no, it's inside the generally accepted mouth of Bahia Concepcion. That's where the OP is asking about.

Correct, my photos were from July, 2009 on our first anniversary. Bob and Susan made us feel very comfortable and we would like to stay there again some day. The casitas are two bedroom, so great to share with family or friends.

Hook - 6-25-2015 at 06:03 PM

AC at night is all you need, at this time of year. Not needed during the day. You're in the water and in the shade with a breeze.

Big Plus, B and S.

Now, what about any slips at that area north of you? Can they be had for JZ?

I'm fine with anchoring out at Chivato.

bajabuddha - 6-25-2015 at 10:29 PM

Yup, now is not a good time for Buenaventura w/o A/C, but please take an early lunch break down, take your kayaks and snorkels, check out the guest house for later visits (especially the colder months) and ask rates/people/days, etc..... and mas importante, dice hola a la Bahia para mio, por favor. Have a good summer.

David K - 6-26-2015 at 08:38 AM

Is the Buenaventura hotel open? I thought Muņoz abandoned or stopped maintaining it it while he was too busy trying to force Mark and Olivia off their land...? Last report I remember reading said it was a dump.

Sunny boy, at least try reading the whole thread before posting only about the last previous one before trying to get your dozen-quota-of-the-day in.

HOTEL'S CLOSED. THEY HAVE A GUEST HOUSE.

David K - 6-26-2015 at 09:52 AM

Buddah boy, WHO has a guest house??? NOT the hotel!! Some may not know there are two places at San Buenaventura, next to each other.

When I post here I am not thinking of just my needs, but information that benefits others who may not know.

jeez, and I thought you knew EVERYTHING. Who do you freakin' think? (Clue; burgers and beer......)

And yes, I know B & S's B&B is on the bay. You didn't 'help' me with anything but my morning constitutional. Have an ordinary day ! :smug:

I imagine how all those open areas and concrete patios fell like, on a typical 35C day.

Other than some Mexicans that I talked to, people do need AC day and night, this time of year. Nobody is in the water all day, and neither they are in the shade. Not to mention that spending an hour or two in a kitchen, is going to be an ordeal (without AC). Just my 2 cents.

Terry28 - 6-26-2015 at 11:18 AM

Just to clarify this topic...Mark and Olivia have a rental house right next to theirs. 150ft from the bar and restaurant. The "hotel" is a whole different story......and a sad one....M & O have AC when the generator is running

chuckie - 6-26-2015 at 11:37 AM

Wodd has now moved Bahia Concepcion! What Power! :o

Errrm, Sparky; That's NOT my post. But, at least you're one more closer to your quota.

David K - 6-26-2015 at 12:03 PM

LOL !! You are so right!! ja ja ja, how I can get two guys with similar handles mixed up...? I guess the rudeness you both send my way has me too worn down.

I don't give a bit about any post count, so let that one go... I am just the longest posting Nomad after Doug and I share and help as much as I can.

Sorry for the mix up.

Is this not a self-contradicting statement?

chuckie - 6-26-2015 at 12:37 PM

No, one has to do with quantity, the other the time period...Get it right Hoser! We wont even get into quality.....Do you suppose he needs oxygen in the rarified world he lives in?

My bad. It's just that all the times I have driven past on he main highway, it did not appear to me to be in Concepcion.

That said, having looked at so many photos of your place, I just have to ask, why so much concrete? I get that having a bunch of hard scape saves water, but I must admit that the main reason we never stopped in was because it just looked so hot. Far from tropical. Sorry.

David K - 6-26-2015 at 04:59 PM

The center piece of the resort is an immaculate clean fresh water swimming pool... the cement around it and to the casitas insures little dirt gets tracked into the pool, which Susan manicures daily!

Thanks for the great place to stay Bob and Susan. It was perfect! We made it down to Loreto fast. It was totally flat the entire way.

Pic from the re-fuel in Mulege before heading down.
