Missing American from San Felipe since Sunday June 21

mscowpatty - 6-26-2015 at 03:57 PM

Update from Uria: Socorro Gomez was at the Mass and Rosary and she tells me that she had made flyers in Spanish for the Police who were at EDR yesterday, to distribute in the Mexicali area too.
The search party has looked as far South as Gonzaga Bay for Larry and his White Doge Pick up Truck.
Rosalie was going again to the District Attorneys office this morning. Mr. Perez with El Dorado Security has been a God send to Rosalie helping her with the Police and the District Attorneys office.

The Police, the Red Cross, the Church (Mormon and Catholic), the Scorpions, Friends and the Community of San Felipe are looking and Praying for Larry.

Larry may be disoriented and is at risk.

grace59 - 6-26-2015 at 05:22 PM

Yes, Larry is 78 and has dementia. He was last seen in downtown San Felipe by a Police Officer on Monday night. They and many locals know him because he gives them things. At the time the officer did not know that he was "missing". The sad thing is that because of the dementia he could be anywhere and not even know that he is missing.

Missing since "Last Sunday"... Maybe add the date so folks know which Sunday, thanks. I hope he is found before long!

They have checked with CBP and there has been no sighting of his truck heading NOB.

Have they even found his truck yet? My wife and I are going south for 4 days and will keep our eyes peeled for the truck if it has not been found.

Truck has been found near Km66. Fri, 3 Jul 2015 17:47:09 -0700
Assume south of SF which is where he was last seen driving. No sign of Larry at this time.

Whale-ista - 7-3-2015 at 06:48 PM

sounds like the situation near Cataviña- car found, not the person. Sigh...

Whalista, that's km 66 south of San Felipe.... east side, not Cataviña (so I read into it). This heat, it's a recovery effort.

Larry's truck was found south of San Felipe near Km 66 by the owner of Campo El Conquistador. The truck was off of the road a ways and stuck in the sand. The truck was intact, things still in the back and the keys were there outside the truck. There is, at this time, no sign of Larry. The owner of the Campo said that ATVs are needed to search the area so locals are trying to get a search together for tomorrow. We do not know how long the truck has been there. Please keep Larry and his family in your thoughts and prayers. I will let you know if there is any additional information.

So hoping some kind soul found Larry and took him in!

Fingers and toes crossed, we sure could use a happy ending

Still searching. Strange developments.
Here is Kats blog today
Larry has not been found yet, although his truck was found at Km 66 near Puertecitos and the tailgate had been stolen. I followed a truck this morning with a strange looking tailgate, which looked as though it had been recently painted, but not plain paint. I was close enough to the back, to notice it had been sort of beaten in on the left side to fit. I lost them when a car pulled out in front of me and they sped off. My theory is and it’s simply my opinion – he may have ran out of gas and not necessarily near Puertecitos. The photo of his truck, which was not there when Larry first went missing and that area was already searched, seemed to be stuck and there were stolen items in the back when found. If he ran out of gas, he may have started walking or someone stole his truck with him in it. It’s more or less looking for a needle in a haystack

The tailgate for the tryck was i the bed of the truck. Picture of truck shows it there.

Yes, that is correct. I'm not sure how Kat got the idea that the tailgate was stolen. Photos of the truck clearly show the Dodge Tailgate in the back of he truck along with all of the junk that Larry was reported to have in the back. Also, all of his things were in the cab and the keys were outside of the truck. Still no Larry. There was a plan for members of the community to head south to look for him today.

From TALK BAJA.

This was in a post on San Felipe Chatter about the search for Larry. By ---------------: We went to the campo where his truck was found and then split up. We drove up the beach, and into the next campo (Javier owns it); he did see Larry and gave him water, he says, in the last days of June. He said the feds were there 2 days ago. My question is why did it take them so long to question Javier? He (Javier) seemed to think he'd been up all night as the sun was just coming over the horizon. He didn't know which way he came from but assumed he had people down the beach. His theory is he walked back to his truck and was so hot he went in the sea and, well, it's just a theory. Javier did know Larry was from El Dorado and had a son in the states. We searched for about 4 hours. The tracks where the rig was pulled out from showed the truck in between the houses and it's a very long walk to the next campo (almost 2 miles).

Bump, any news on Larry :?:

grace59 - 7-21-2015 at 01:36 PM

No, I am afraid that there is now news whatsoever. The police have processed and impounded the truck. There has been no sighting, no news. It is a very sad thing.
