Gizycko, Poland - day trip

BajaBlanca - 7-3-2015 at 02:03 PM

Yesterday, we took a day trip to Gizycko - a port town that is 30 minutes away from where we are staying. It is the 3rd time in 10 years that we have been there and it never disappoints.

This year seemed to be the busiest I remember- it was a gorgeous day, so I am not surprised.

A LAKE VIEW ON THE WAY:

AND THE FOREST:

END OF DEER WARNING AREA SIGN AND ANOTHER SHOWING THAT YOU ARE ENTERING A VILLAGE:

THIS SIGN SHOWS YOU ARE LEAVING TOWN. I FOUND THESE TO BE SO HELPFUL, THEY ARE AT THE ENTRANCE AND EXIT TO EVERY VILLAGE OR CITY:

AND HERE YOU HAVE GIZYCKO AND ALL THE FUN:

TRAIN GOING BY:

JET SKIS:

WE SAW THIS BOAT IN WEGORZEWO THE OTHER DAY!

YOUNGSTERS EVERYWHERE WITH RENTED BOATS:

CUTE VISORS FOR SAILORS:

WE ALWAYS GO TO THIS RESTAURANT, RIGHT AT THE END OF THE PIER:

MY LOOK OF SUFFERING THRU THIS DAY TRIP!

THE BEAUTIFUL BOATS BEHIND US:

I ORDERED A "CAIPIRINHA" WHICH IS A BRAZILIAN DRINK - IT DISAPPOINTED IN TASTE BUT I JUST LOVE THAT IT EVEN APPEARED ON THE MENU:

AGAIN - THE BOATS THE BOATS THE BOATS:

AS WE WERE WALKING AROUND AFTER LUNCH, WE SAW THIS GRANDPA AND GRANDSON FISHING:

RELAXING:

AND THE LITTLE BOY CAUGHT ONE WHICH GRANDPA HELPED WITH:

THIS TOWN IS KNOWN FOR A 19TH CENTURY REVOLVING BRIDGE THAT WEIGHS OVER 1 TON AND IS OPERATED BY ONE PERSON. THERE IS A SCHEDULE OF WHEN IT WILL BE OPEN AND THEN BOATS GO THRU THE CANAL, WHILE PEOPLE AND CARS HAVE TO WAIT:

HERE IT IS IN THE PROCESS OF BEING CLOSED:

WAITING:

WORKING:

AND THAT ENDS ONE MORE FANTASTIC DAY IN POLAND.

Poland appears to be a gorgeous country. I like the kayaks on the lake.

so much greenery and water- what a nice change of pace! thank you for the travel report.

PS- we have had monsoon-type weather this week: hot, humid, rain, thunder/lightning in San Diego

I'm really enjoying these posts. The place looks so uncrowded, easy going, clean, well kept, and civilized, and that glass of beer has a nice head on it. Plus, I'm jonesing for fresh water lakes and forests. Thanks BajaBlanca.

I wonder why Blanca and Les live in Baja, if they could live in Poland?

hahahaha we LOVE our house our town our life our everything in La Bocana.....it is just opposite from here but the ocean view from our livingroom, kitchen, bedroom is a million dollar view.

and forget thee not the winters here!

I suppose in a perfect world, we would live half here and half there? I get to see my family in San Diego often as they are in san diego. I do want Les to be with his family more often since we are getting up there in age!

This is a trip to see family and here are some shots:

Les's sister:

One of his brother's - they have been married for 30 years and there is NEVER a dull moment with them:

all of us at dinner last night (one more bro is missing, he had to stay home):

So, getting back to the comment - Poland is gorgeous and I would live here in a heartbeat but only if we could have our Baja Base too!

So, if anyone wants to buy the house or the B&B, we could make that happen LOL
