Addict Needs Nomad Help
It’s not ALANON, it’s not pot or meth or heroine. It came on me late in life – I quit smoking after 30 years all in one day. I still drink alcohol but I would not call that an addiction since the liver is an evil organ and must be punished.

The craving is new to me but the drug is an old enemy – developed by a Japanese chemist decades ago it has grown to be a world-wide problem. He called it UMAMI. It is monosodium glutamate. It is neither sweet nor sour, hot nor cold, acidic nor basis; it brings out the flavors of foods with which it is mixed.

Tobacco makes you want more, soon and keep em coming. Cocaine says you won’t feel good again until you find some more. DORITOS say “Go to the store right this minute and buy at least three large bags before you run into real trouble.”
Doritos can kill you. They are no doubt eating the stomach lining in my nearly 80 year old stomach. This will not be a quick cigarette solving problem. This is serious.

Since I can’t say no to them I have supplied myself with Mexican pro-biotics that will replace my gringo germs with Mexican ones who are familiar with the spices. It is a delicate balance of bat guano and lizard droppings. I sometimes find myself unable to sleep; getting up and going to the bathroom mirror to see if my hair is growing a luxuriant green color (from nature’s fertilizer).

This can’t just be me. There must be millions of others out there making uncountable trips to the tiendas for more of what they cannot do without.

I mean c’mon, try having a cold beer or an iced tea without a Dorito. When pigs fly high.

Get back to me when you can. I’m headed for the fridge for a beer. OMG, I hope I’m not of corn spiced UMAMI.

MAKE YOUR OWN TOTOPOS

Buy a stack of local tortillas de maiz, cut 'em into 6ths or 8ths with a chef's knife, fry 'em in UN-saturated veggie oil, and make your own pico de gallo salsa.

Yeah, right !!    Rotsa Ruck, hombre !!

Before Grupo Bimbo bought the company, they were known as Taquis, which would not sell so well NOB.
