So, here we are in the land where husband Les grew up. About 10 min away by car is the town of WOLOW. I read that the population is 12,000 but I
have no idea when that census is from.
It is a bustling town with interesting architecture mixed in with older buildings definitely asking desperately for TLC.
THIS IS THE FOREST THAT LES USED TO WALK IN WITH FRIENDS.
THESE TREES ARE VERY DIFFERENT FROM THE ONES UP NORTH:
I LOVE HOW SOME OF THE STREETS ARE ROUNDED. THIS IS NOW A PEDESTRIAN WALKWAY BUT IT USED TO BE A ROAD:
PART OF THE TOWN HALL - THE REAL DEAL:
THE DEAL IN THE WINDOW ACROSS THE STREET:
THE TOWN HALL - CITY OFFICES. NOTICE THE BLACK GATE AT THE BOTTOM RIGHT AS I WILL SHOW IT IN DETAIL, ALSO, THE CHESS SET COMING UP IS IN FRONT OF THE
LITTLE BLDG., ALSO IN THE BOTTOM RIGHT:
ANOTHER STREET:
THIS CHURCH WAS BUILT IN THE 1700s
THIS LITTLE PARK IS DEDICATED TO SOLIDARITY MOVEMENT:
AND WE HAD A GOOG LAUGH BECAUSE OF THE WORD "SQUARE" WHICH HAS BEEN POLISH-IZED:
WINTERS ARE VERY HARSH AND SOME FOLKS STILL STRUGGLE TO MAKE A LIVING - THERE ARE BEAUTIFULLY PAINTED BUILDINGS RIGHT NEXT TO OTHERS THAT REALLY NEED
TLC:
I JUST LOVE THE DETAIL ON THIS ONE:
AROUND TOWN:
TOOK A BREAK FOR SOME HOT CHOCOLATE:
PAID AT THE BAR IN THE NEXT ROOM:
FOUND A CEMETARY -REALLY OLD ONE!
4 MONTH OLD BABY - RIP LITTLE ONE:
MORE SITES AROUND TOWN:
CLOSE UP OF THE ABOVE PHOTO:
THESE TWO BLDGS HAVE ROOMS FOR RENT AT $25 OR $100 ZLOTY A NIGHT, BUT THIS IS A PRETTY BUSY STREET DURING THE DAY- PROBABLY SETTLES DOWN AT NIGHT:
SO, LES TAUGHT ME WHY SOME WINDOWS ARE BRICKED UP....ANY OF YOU TAKE A GUESS! I WILL WRITE THE ANSWER AT THE END!
BACAUSE THIS AREA USED TO BE GERMAN, THERE ARE BUNKERS UNDERGROUND EVERYWHERE, JUST LIKE IN THE NE:
AND HERE IS THE POLICE STATION - NOT TOO SHABBY!
AND THAT CONCLUDES THIS REPORT - HOPE YOU ENJOYED IT! IF ANYONE HAS QUESTIONS, PLEASE ASK AWAY.IF ANYONE WOULD LIKE ME TO CONCENTRATE ON SOMETHING I
AM MISSING, ASK AWAY.
THOSE WINDOWS WERE BRICKED UP BECAUSE THE CITY DECIDED TO TAX PEOPLE ACCORDING TO HOW MANY WINDOWS THEY HAD - SO THE SOLUTION ? FEWER WINDOWS, OF
COURSE!
AND LAST PIC- WHEN WE CAME HOME TO LES'S SISTER'S HOUSE, SHE HAD STUFFED CABBAGE FOR LUNCH.....IF SMELLS EVER GET ATTACHED TO PHOTOS, YOU WOULD BE
SWOONING RIGHT ABOUT NOW. THE MEAL WAS OUT OF THIS WORLD DELICIOUS.

such a mix of history in Poland being that it did not even exist for 400 years!
