Finally moved to Todos Santos, but don't know anyone...

I've been visiting Todos Santos for 20+ years but had to work, etc., etc. Finally, just decided I could have my dreams and did it 3 weeks ago...but have lost touch with people I once knew here. I'm single, a hiker, adventurer, explored Baja for years with Graham MacIntosh, Norm Roberts, Marv Patchen, and more..., love adventure - would like to meet some folks here.

Sounds like you have some great stories to tell (or keep)? The Baja book authors are some really great people... in person as well as in reading!

Best wishes in putting down your roots in Todos! I hope you can reconnect with old friends here or make new ones!

People of our age havent lived, if they dont have a few et ceteras in their lives. I'm nearly 62.

I think you have great natural beauty, to go with your natural interests.

If you've just moved to your new place, it might be time to take stock on what you do, in the event of a hurricane. 'Tis the season, of course. How will you secure your house and where will you evacuate to, if it becomes necessary? A couple are brewing, as I write. Their probability at hitting TS is rather low........right now. But this is expected to be a busy season.

That's probably priority #1, if you haven't provided for it. With your background and interests, the friends will come quickly, I would think.

Don''t know about social gatherings in Todos but know there's ALWAYS something social going on around art galleries. Intro yourself to Michael Cope (ask around for his gallery) -- he's a good person to know.

And check out Baja Beans in Pescadero. Always social things happening there esp. on Sunday.

You've made a fantastic move -- Todos, Pescadero, Cabo has good people and weather except for those pesky hurricanes.

bajaguy's suggestion is a good one. Tapas and beer, folks from the neighborhood, stores you visit (bookstore, Que Rico (see Deborah).

Todos will be home in a short period of time. It's a small community -- and if you're an artist, or like art, you're home free.

Food and beer? Sounds like a Welcome Wagon concept of sorts....but in reverse.

I appreciate the offer of such vittles....how long would a guest be welcome for?

I have a month planned but no reservations yet....

I would not be broadcasting on a public forum the fact that you are a woman, alone in Todo Santos and publicizing your photo. You are setting yourself up for, what could be, a bad situation.

It's kind of slow during the summer months, but the rest of the year there are plenty of activities in the area where you can meet folks. yoga, Zumba, art walk, surf schools, wine tastings, etc.. You can also volunteer for good causes like the Palapa Society, or Hogar del Niņos. The Western Onion is a good suggestion, I often see people posting there looking for hiking or biking partners.

If Ged comes to visit...lock up your cats! jejejeje...look up Tomas in Pescadero..he's a Nomad and a good sort who can show you the TS ropes! Enjoy your new home but beware of the storms and make sure you are in a safe place with lots of supplies!

My post was mostly in jest (not the "welcome aboard" part :saint: )

DT Bushpilot is a gentle and intelligent guy, so I rarely disagree with him (plus, he's bigger than me).....we managed a week together riding motorcycles in Baja and somehow survived each other's company.....read all about it and see a few nomad faces:

I'm envious that you took the plunge! I'm personally a few years from doing the same, but have already settled on the Todos Santos area. The Baja Western Onion (http://www.bajawesternonion.com/ is the website, but be sure to sign up for the newsletter, which is sent out twice a week) is an excellent resource, as is Pescadero Life and the ubiquitous Gringo Gazette. Summer is definitely a sleepy season, but there's still plenty to do. Enjoy!

Rode the Guillen trail last year as part of our 1000 mile mule trip up the peninsula-La Mula Mil. I have been exploring Baja California by mule for over 40 years and that is my favorite east coast ride-truly incredible. Turtle nests all over and playing wave tag getting around the base of cliffs with the mules-we actually had waves because of the wind. You will love it!! Hopefully Alejo Romero will be your guide...I have known him for many years and this is his country! Wild wild country-you could almost imagine the billowing white sails of a tall Spanish ship as it approached Los Dolores......
