La Fonda Hotel

What's up with the La Fonda Hotel? Every time I email them about availability I never get a response. Has anyone had any success booking a room here?

I was there this past weekend. I told the owner I tried to make a reservation online and never got a response, she told me that she paid a lot of money to have the website built and that it has never worked correctly, she said the guy that did the website took her money and never finished the job. That is why the reservation system doesn't work, according to her.

Try their phone: 52 646 155 0872. I was there for lunch a few weeks ago and everything seemed operational, including the margaritas.:D:D:D

Haven't had to make a reservation there for the last 10 years.. But, it sure has seemed extra busy lately. Crowded lineups again. Great.

Yeah I don't have a means of calling international, otherwise I would.... Maybe I'll do it from work. The margharitas are always operational :bounce:

Poco Cielo next door is a better and cleaner place, plus better food.

Seriously? Maybe since the change of ownership at La Fonda.

I'm still having a hard time telling which hotel is which. I at breakfast after a session at a pinkish hotel at the very end of the beach. It looked cool so I want to stay there sometime, but I'm not sure what I'm finding is the actual hotel. And now it looks like their website is down again.

The original La Fonda, owned by Dmytri is the one on the far south end. I agree, Poco Cielo is cleaner and newer and often cheaper than La Fonda. They also have their own access to beach. Both La Fonda and Poco Cielo I find have horrible food. Margaritas are good at both though.

simple way to call abroad that many Mexicans use when calling from the states

go to any liquor store and ask for an international calling card - usually come in $5 or $10 and last a long long time. You call the number on the card, then insert the code number you usually scratch off. Then you call whomever you want!

The one Brazilians use is called ORO CARD.

La Fonda has a soft spot in my heart.....and Poco Cielo has a new spot there too!

Poco Cielo's US phone number is 760-670-3336

garek007 - 7-23-2015 at 10:18 AM

ah yes, the international calling card. I don't know why I didn't think of it.... and I'll check out poco cielo

One bad impression can last a life time. It is unfortunate that Dimytri let his Hotel become smeared by the temporary owner.
In actuality the Sunday brunch has some of the only good Mexican food on the coast. This is now, not then. Make sure you are at the La Fonda South of Gary's and you will be pleasantly surprised.
The food at Poco Cielo is currently not bad either.
