Hello all....newbie here, so please bear with me. I'm looking for intel on the cuesta vieja trail that runs from the La Rumorosa area down to Laguna
Salada. It was part of the Baja 500 course this year and from the pics and videos I saw online, it looked like a pretty cool little adventure to try.
I'd like to take a Jeep trip up/down it this coming fall and just trying to gain as much info as I can about it beforehand. Any side trails worth

We drove down it a couple days before the 500 - a fun, spectacular drive. Skinny vehicles (eg Jeeps, Tacomas) will have no problem - some switchbacks
require a several-point turn. Once the road reaches the bottom, it's a bit of a bouncy, rocky road to the toll road. 4x4 is not necessary, but
higher-clearance is helpful.
Obviously, if you suffer from high anxiety, this is not a good road for you. As someone said on RDC: "if you drive off the edge, you'll die of old age

We did it in June after the 500 race. Here are two pictures from Google Earth to show the entrance. The turn may be marked for a trash dump. The turn
off the hwy is at 32-33.125x116-02.500 and the turn in the dirt which is just a short distance is
32-33.125x116-01.980. It is a fun trip down. Interesting remains from a rock house etc at the bottom.

Thank you both so much. Exactly what I was hoping to find. Another question....if we start at the bottom and go up, how far from La Rumorosa proper
would be once we got to the top? Thinking of doing an overnighter (or 2 nighter) up cuesta vieja, then south to Laguna Hanson. Spend the night there
and then head kind of northeasterly from there back to Mexicali. Sound doable? Done a lot of off roading in the US and looking for new adventures.

If you drive up the hill, once you get to the top, you're in town. Super easy.

The La Rumorosa Pemex is is about 1 or 1.5 miles to the west on highway 2 (libre/free road). Fuel up there. Cabana de Abuelo restaurant next door is
great. The turnoff for the dirt road south to the Parque Nacional / Laguna Hanson is about 1/4 mile further to the west.
Good, safe and aesthetic camping at Rancho el Topo about 23 miles south on that road. Turnoff to the west 2 miles. There is horseback riding available
