Rooster madness attempt #2

dtbushpilot - 7-23-2015 at 06:32 PM

Took my brother fishing on the "Outcast" today to try to get him his first Rooster fish. We caught 5, here are some pictures of a couple of them.

Awesome! Thanks for sharing. My turn is in a few months :bounce:

I tried a couple of times to edit the size of the photos, maybe if I delete the post and start over?

"Life is tough".....It's even tougher if you're stupid.....

Made me chuckle. Coming from a nontech person. Nice fish!

My brother's first Rooster (the one he is holding) was 60lbs. My first rooster was about 10lbs. I've never caught a 60lb rooster.....something is terribly wrong here......

I wish we had a "LIKE" button!

We're going out in the morning for another crack at them.

Thanks Don, I will. Seems like the older we get the harder it is to find time to hang out together. We are spending a week just the two of us, no wives no kids.......no food, no clean laundry, no clean dishes.....we don't need that stuff anyways.

Rooster fish

Can anybody tell me if Rooster fish are any good to eat? I have avoided spearing them because of the few negative comments I have heard about their lack of tastiness.

The very small ones aren't bad. The larger ones are very grainy. If planing to release a rooster, it's not a good idea to hoist them up by their gills, it puts a lot of stress on the fish.

Seems like a dumb thing to do if your not going to eat the fish.Just don't see the fun in just killing things for sport?????

Nice! Do they taste anything like a Mahi?

Not sure, I always use the same "cedar plank" recipe for roosters that I use for carp, I usually grill Mahi.....
