We are contemplating a future trip to Bahia Asuncion, after seeing so many positive things here including Shari's great photos. It looks like there
are two roads (or maybe one with a curve at the coast) that you need to take when getting off of Highway 1 south of Guerrero Negro. Can you
experienced folks let us know if the exit to this/these roads is clearly marked, and how wide the roads are? We would be in a Class A 29' Motorhome,

The turnoff for Asuncion is marked with a sign saying Bahia Tortugas...just after the first Pemex in Vizcaino... then you drive for half an hour or so
...watch for sand dunes on the road but it is nicely paved. Then there is a sign that says Bahia Asuncion turn left, then go another half hour till
you think...where the heck IS this place....then you will get here...at the entrance to the village,take a left just past the Pemex and a quick right
(big sign on the Beach House wall of a mermaid) to get to Campo Sirena. There is a big family rig there now enjoying the beach!

The campground is right in the middle of all the action, and you'll be lulled to sleep (or kept awake) by the crashing waves about 100' away.
You'll never want to leave!

Yep... Before, Hwy.1, it was common to go from Guerrero Negro to Malarrimo or Tortugas using the roads on the salt flats (with permission from the
salt mine office) or use the old dirt road around the lagoon via Ojo de Liebre spring and Rancho El Huisache. Does anyone use these old shortcuts
instead of the paved long way around roads?

As I recall, Raul, who once was a jefe at the salt works, and later went on to build the Hotel Caraoles has/ had such a permit.
When the hotel was first opened, we stayed there, and went out on a whale trip with Raul that went through those gates.
