Back road from Bahia De Los Angeles to San Borja

Hi,

We will be in the Bahia de Los Angeles for a few days. Wondering how far the San Borja Mission is from there. Anyone know the distance, or the amount of time we should allow to get there? Road condition?

Thanks!

You will drive out of town about 13 miles towards Hwy. 1, take the San Borja road that forks away to the southwest for 22 more miles. 2WD OK, and good by Baja standards. A rocky pass is crossed a few miles before the mission entrance road. It is an awesome place, take your time. José or one of his sons may bet there to guide you. There are many other sites around L.A. Bay to enjoy!

At least one hour drive each way, unless you are in a Baja built vehicle, then less!

The Montevideo painted cliff site is highly worth a side trip. The road is 2 miles from the L.A. Bay highway, off the San Borja road (just before the first arroyo crossing). Go about 6 1/2 miles to the left (keep left at a fork in the road)... and you drive right to the side of the cliff with prehistoric rock art... just steps from your car.
