Been awhile... Going to be taking my 16ft. Zodiac out to Cabo San Quintin to surf for a week. Will be staying and launching from the Old Mill.
Just looking for a little info on the surf, the boat ride, and the beaches out there.
Been to most of the breaks around baja. Just haven't ever taking the boat down, and have never surfed out at the point....
Thank you guys!

Check the tide tables - could be mud in front of Old Mill at low tide.

Be aware the mouth of the bay points due south and the entrance to the channel is narrow. Use a guide the first time. If you miss the channel on the
way back in you may find yourself in two feet of water with waves breaking over you. It is especially risky at low tide. There have been mexican
fishermen die there. I personally would not go out of that bay in anything less than a 20 footer but if you are determined, when coming back in wait
outside the mouth until a big wave comes in and ride the back of it until it breaks then power through. Good luck.

Bajabean knows what he is talking about. I have watched more than a few rubber duckies get swamped because they tried to time beaching their boat
between big sets of waves.
I try to ride the back of the biggest ones I see coming and stay on it until it collapses beneath me. leave the motor unlocked so it can kick up if
it needs to. Dinging the prop is nothing compared to swamping!
BTW, I drive a 14' MK II rubber duckie.

Thanks guys.... I'm out at Ralph's, etc. at least once a week and have done very large Ranch a few times.
It looks like a Pt. Loma like setup, minus the deep channel. Plan on following the pangas out to see the channel setup.
I plan on anchoring the rig, not beaching it. Hoping for some nice south's to come our way and slide into the cabo.....

Thank you guys for the info.... I'm bringing the wife down, and hoping to find some smaller lines inside the point for her. I'm sure it gets bigger
the further out on the cabo you go. I'll surf anything, but was hoping for the smaller inside stuff for her. Was looking to ride something more
manageable with the lady, then dropping her off at the beach and heading further out to get my fill and maybe catch lunch..... Looks like there's some
nice beaches out there as well
