Crossing Arroyos Can Be Fun

Ateo - 8-4-2015 at 05:57 PM

July 23rd saw some decent rain in the San Ignacio area. The next morning we were heading out the North Road via Datil to San Juanico. After almost getting stuck in the mushy, muddy, salt flats, we had to detour off the road into the cacti and shrubs to get around a broken down truck hauling cargo from Datil. We thought we were home free until we came across this arroyo.

I don't know how to embed this so here goes nothing:

Yeah, nothing spectacular, but we waited for it to go down for about 2 hours. Didn't want to risk it.

What were you driving?

Ateo - 8-4-2015 at 08:53 PM

Yes Woody, perfect to wash the salt off!

pauldavidmena, yep that's my wife and daughter, letting loose and confident everything was gonna be just fine. You can here me say "shhhhhhhhhhhhh" as I've got two hands on the wheel and puckering up pretty good, if you know what I mean.

Howard, I was in a lowered Honda Civic. Just kidding. Toyota Tundra.

It did not look that bad a week ago Sunday when we drove the other way, from San Juanico to San Ignacio, but there was water in the arroyo at la Bellana and water on the salt flats or dirt paths south of Campo Datil, but it turned out to be passable without too much hassle. I was driving a Toyota FJ Cruiser. They forecast more thunderstorms next week.
