David - yes it is. Can't believe I lived through 20+ takeoffs and landings there.

There were once hundreds of airports in Baja... a private pilot's paradise to go everywhere on the peninsula! So sad that most of them have been ditched to stop drug runners from using them!

Here is a map you might have used, from 1975. Every number in a circle is an Airport (landing strip) in Arnold Senterfitt's book. The other two numbers (for non-pilots here) are the strip's elevation and the runway length (in hundreds of feet). Meling's airstrip shows 2,280 feet above sea level and a 2,700 foot long runway.

David my first trip to Meling was in 1975. I was using Senterfitt's 1973 edition - here's what Meling looked like there. I met him once - at Meling. He was on a search and recover in the mountains:
