Cameron Steele's 2015 Trail of Missions tour preview:

5pm Pacific Time Sunday the 23rd of August, on CBS Sports Network, Direct TV Ch. 221

Cameron hired me to provide location planning details before the tour, as well as supplied every member of the tour with one of our 'Old Missions' books.
Thanks Cameron!

Wish I had cable for this.

David K - 8-21-2015 at 09:52 AM

Not cable, Direct TV! ;)

Is this the same show we saw once before, or was that the 2014 edition? I'm going to have to bribe a friend to record this - we only get off-the-air/old school HDTV.

BajaGeoff - 8-21-2015 at 11:51 AM

That was 2014 StuckSucks....this is the brand new 2015 show!

Correct... and no 30 second spots of DK lecturing in this one, because I wasn't there!
*There is nothing quite like riding in a helicopter over Baja or riding co-driver next to Cameron Steele and then later with Baja Nomad member 'racingron' in their Ford Raptors... and several miles with Casey Currie in his new Jeep Rubicon, before he and I flew north in the helicopter piloted by Jim McCoy (out of El Cajon).

For those that missed it (or set their DVR only to have a football game run long, and not see the final few minutes)... MONDAY 8/24 at 7 am is the next showing.
:light:

What I did see looked great... Cameron had the mission details better (I think my book was under his arm in one shot) and it looks like all had fun. The Toyota pulling out a stuck Ford Raptor was sweet, too!

ehall - 8-24-2015 at 05:01 AM

Good show with great scenery and yes, I missed the last 10 minutes.

TMW - 8-24-2015 at 09:21 AM

It was OK but should have been called "Trails of Baja". Not a lot on the missions in my opinion and of all things they didn't even mention the Loreto mission, the first one built, just belly flops at the hotel.

I forgot, I didn't hear David K mentioned. You would think they would have said something about their consultant.

Thanks Tom... It is a 7 day tour and they have to edit it down to 44 minutes of TV time. So much is not seen. 'A Baja 4WD Fun Trip with 6 missions and more' may have been a better description?

The 2014 trip saw different missions, so maybe each year he will mix them? I was with them for three days on last year's trip, and Cameron asked for ideas for this year from me. I hope to go next year, but he knows I am available for whatever assistance I can provide.

You want to see more missions? Join me on a tour I am leading this October (20-29)... 10 days, 15 mission sites and more!

Here is the post: http://forums.bajanomad.com/viewthread.php?tid=79887

At least our book is the official guide to mission history on The Trail of Missions!

It was kind of cool that the Tundra pulled out the Raptor in the sand.
I wonder if the Ford driver knew about tire pressure.

Also I think they showed the trucks going thru silt beds before the San Borja Mission and I don't remember any silt beds on that road, but it's been just over a year since I was on it.

David K - 8-24-2015 at 12:11 PM

That was likely coming away from the 7 Sisters area heading to San Borja. No silt beds on the actual San Borja roads.

David K - 8-24-2015 at 03:16 PM

A nice part was seeing all the time they spent with Pancho at Bahia San Rafael.

To late to find out the details for participation for the mission trails trip. What was the cost per vehicle or per person?
Paul

Contact Cameron through his Desert Assassins Facebook page... to get on the wish list if you can budget it. https://www.facebook.com/DesertAssassins16?fref=ts

Sending you a u2u.

Hey Paul you could organize a nomad trail of missions minus the chopper and catered meals.

That's alot of links with great pictures. Going to have to spend some quality time on a big screen computer at work tonight. Thanks

David K - 8-24-2015 at 06:00 PM

We have had a lot of fun over the years showing friends great places!

BigBearRider - 8-26-2015 at 06:04 PM

I enjoyed it.

The show had some really nice words to say about Punta Chivato, and some cool footage to back it up. Made me feel good.
