Dock at Serenidad

gallesram - 8-22-2015 at 07:07 AM

Does anyone know what happened to the dock at the Serenidad? I am down for a few days and went to launch my boat yesterday (solo) only to discover the dock is gone (the wooden dock that used to be attached to the concrete pier). Major bummer since no way to launch solo now.

You can thank hurricane Odile for that!

Actually it was rebuilt after Odile; I have been using it all summer (just last month in fact). Since there hasn't been a storm in the meantime I can't figure out where it went.

That's right, it was there when I left, we used it a lot....Ask Mateo or Alejandro You have me wondering now.....

MulegeAL - 8-22-2015 at 07:29 AM

That's true. Then I suspect the dock has been pulled for hurricane season, at least I hope so. Perhaps someone from the south side of town will chime in....

Yep, just learned that. I was asking around the Oasis and heard the same thing. I'm going to try to launch at Playa Naranjas; just drove down there and it looks do-able.

Be careful at Los Naranjos, I was there last year and I ended launching from the beach because I was told by some of the expats living there that the ramp has a big drop from the ramp to the bottom: the wheels on you trailer may end up trapped at the edge of the ramp...:?::?:

San Bruno maybe????
somewhat further but was a good ramp awhile back..

Chivato but the road will probably eat you alive...

good luck...

Terry28 - 8-22-2015 at 12:45 PM

Buenaventura has a launch ramp...right next to the restaurant...

Hook - 8-22-2015 at 01:32 PM

San Bruno, all the way. I even launched my 25 foot Skipjack there for a few days in a row. Just keep an eye on rocks as you leave the breakwater entrance.

I ended up launching at Playa Naranjas without a problem. The guy who lives there let me use his 4X4 which was necessary; no way to pull the trailer out without that power. The "ramp" is just a muddy/sandy entrance; the Serenidad ramp is much better.

Gotta love the locals; the guy tossed me the keys to his truck and never looked back. Doubt that would happen up north.

Don Armando is a great guy, last year during Thanksgiving exactly the same happened to us: he just tossed the keys and I left the truck right where I launched to be used when we came back....

POSSIBLE SOLUTION:

Locals of the Mulege/ Naranjo area, maybe think about having a little 'toddy hour' somewhere, and inviting Armando, and discuss the possibility of a little 'donation' from all to get that little glitch at the bottom of the ramp taken care of?

I know you all know each other (good and bad) and there can be a simple solution here; including, maybe a few tacos and cervezas at his cantina at the end of a day of boating?

Que no?????? :smug:

Now, if only old man Don and his family would update their rooms....

Last time we stayed there, it looked like there was decades of dirt on the light switches.

Such a great location, that continues to keep the public space in great condition. But the rooms, not so much.

We stayed at Los Naranjos for about a week last November, maybe some dirt on the switches (didn't inspect them) not much on the brand new ceramic tile floor...

...only mr. frogboy...

...and for ONLY $400 pesos a night you get a full kitchen with pots, pans and some silverware and sink with running water, not to say the least about the AC that runs during the night in summer, lights on 'til 10pm...

...full inside toilet with cold running water (next to the AC)...

...and for dessert... THE VIEW....

...now if you throw in the free use of a 4x4 to launch your boat... there's absolutly nothing more one can ask for...:tumble:

You guys need to get a life. From what I can tell, they have not updated their rooms in a long time. It was a fave for me. But, the rooms now are so tired.

chuckie - 8-25-2015 at 05:23 PM

Howie, you should just stay with your condo/golf course expertise on hotels that meet your expectations equal with your Cabo lifestyle. There's still some nice, back-water spots that may not live up to your ... ermmm, expertise in Hotelier Management Critique (BTW, do you get paid for this drivel??).

I think if you try to pull your nose down out of the stratosphere, you may get a dose of normal oxygen/nitrogen that the rest of us .... lesser class... people are used to in visiting the Peninsula, and you might get a grip on........ oh, nevermind. Wot a fool am I....

Oh, and BTW, if you'd bother to read, this thread has to do with a public boat dock that was donated to after Odile ruined the last one.... it has absolutely nothing to do with Don or his hotel. You really have a petty grudge, dontcha wodd?
