Every year around the date of the Ascension, Aug.15th, the village of Asuncion holds a 4 day party with lots of fun events. The village fills with
family and friends to participate in the fun...horse races, rodeo, off road race, beach sports, a midway with rides and food booths, and lots and lots
of live music and dances every night.
The queen is selected for how much money her campaign raised for the fiestas...here she is...and more photos of the event.

the band Los Altenos de la Sierra played at the dances and we were fortunate to host them at our place for the duration!

for some reason the fishing tournament that is usually held during the fiestas got postponed to next weekend Aug.29 is the sign up, 250 pesos per
person and Sunday Aug.30 is the tournament.
