I just scanned a couple of photos I took 15 years ago at the petroglyph cliff that is 3/4 of a mile west of Mission San Fernando. I last visited them
10 years ago, and they looked unchanged (third photo), but the cliff is at the bend in the riverbed so with so much rain and more coming this winter,
let's hope these photos are not the last we see of this rock art from 500 to 1,000 estimated years ago!
This was the first Baja petro site I visited back in 1974, during my Spring Break dune buggy trip when I was 16. I hope to find and show the photos I
took then of these same petroglyphs.

Petroglyphs are stronger than painted (pictographs) walls... In the end, our photographs will preserve these sites after they weather away. 4Cata - 8-27-2015 at 10:36 PM

Yes, it is a really cool site! Unfortunately there is a fair amount of vandalism, with people having painted near and even on the petroglyphs and
legitimate indian paintings. Makes me sad to see that... I don't know how you can protect/conserve these kind of sites without taking away all their

Please photograph all historic sites in Baja... it is the only way to 100% preserve the past!
I was last there in 2004, if we go next month on the tour, I will get new photos.
