We had our 4th annual "La Luna Rave" on the beach here this weekend. Doubt many of you have been to a "Rave" but here's how it went. Fri. am trucks
start arriving here with outhouses, speakers, tents, lighting, food stands and what have you. All is set up and ready to go by noon on Saturday when
the music starts. Food starts getting cooked and being on the bluff is no place for anyone on a diet!
The house sized speaker system begins rattling our wine glasses, pots n pans, teeth, etc. People start showing up and the fiesta begins.
The majority of the people don't arrive until after dark but by 10:00, the beach is filled with approx. 300-400 young people dancing, laughing, and
having a great time.
These are kids from Mexico and the U.S. and they have a blast together in spite of language barriers. We oldsters always go down on the beach as we
have friends that run the concessions so on Rave night, we eat tacos and hamburgers down there rather than try and keep our pans from rattling off the
stove from the music. We do some mingling and dancing and checking things out and enjoy ourselves.
In four years of La Luna, I have not seen one argument, fight , disagreement or arrest made for any reason. We are treated cordially and friendly by
the spiked hairs, pierced everythings, and general uniqueness of all of these kids.
The first year we stayed up all night to make sure nothing was stolen. We don't bother anymore because the kids are so well behaved although it is
rather difficult to sleep with a base beat rattling through the house for 24 hours.
They have shows with fire twirlers and lights and there is always something interesting going on somewhere. We start a fire and watch from the
bluff for as long as we are able.
In spite of the beat and our general tiredness the next day, we really enjoy the change of pace in our little slice of paradise.
Just another example of the various types of entertainment we encounter living in Baja.

JR, you must have the patience of Job. If I had to endure that crap for five minutes I would go ballistic.

Due to the nature of the people here, I have learned to enjoy rather than whine and complain. It is Mexico after all. Whereas, I read in Eccos that
they arrested 600 Pelones in Rosarito! Neither is exactly my cup of tea but since I am not in the mountains down south where they don't have Gringos
and their habits, I try to make the best of it here.
Besides, the foods good. And speaking of which, I am in need of a Pastrami soon.
