This is at the Dick Daggett gold ore mill overlooking Calamajue Wash... near where the road drops down into the stream. This was the main road south
of San Felipe in those days (before 1983, when a new road was built east from Laguna Chapala).

The big attraction in those days was the terrific fishing. Here my mom shows her double hook-up of corbina. This was at the sandy bay, about 1 1/2
miles north of Nuevo Mazatlan... later this would become known as 'Bahia Santa Maria'. In the 1960's nobody else was there.

The hurricane of '67 washed this shrimp boat into the back bay/ tidal flats, north of 'Bahia Santa Maria'. It was hoped that it could be returned to
the sea at a future super tide. It never left this spot and over the years was slowly disasmbled until just the Franklin diesel motor remained to rust
away.

Here my mom shows worry because after looking at the boat, our Jeep wouldn't start... and the tide was coming in! I walked about three miles to summon
help from a family camping who drove two Jeep Gladiator pick up trucks. They put the Wagoneer shifter into gear, and 'rocked it' out of its 'gear
lock'.
