The recipe Mexray posted is the kind I prefer, but my success rate at getting one of those at a bar or restaurant is zilch. What I consistently get
instead is usually a Tequila Slushy with a straw in it-- even in Mexico.
My daughter and I asked for Margaritas and specified less ice on the ferry to Topolobampo, then watched the bartender mix tequila, Controy, Fresca and
sugar syrup in water-sized glasses. With less ice, but still a drink to be gulped rather than sipped.
Maybe asking for a Margarita in a Martini glass would work? Does anyone have a better solution? Or should I just give up and look on the bright side
of those Tequila Slushies: You can drink more of them without falling off a bar stool than if you were drinking the classic version.

Fresca and sugar syrup in a margarita? This is gross.
When you end up at a place like this, don't even try to find the benefit of their version of a margarita.
Ask for a limonada con tequila! Much, much better...assuming, of course, they can make a decent limonada!
