Pardon if this question has been answered. I did a quick search and found a thread that ended up as a Toyota discussion.
I am in need of a vehicle for the year (or longer) I will be in Ensenada. I am thinking that leasing may be an option for a new car (then I can turn
it in after the year with not having to worry what to do with it).
I am a teacher a temporary visa until July 31st. Can someone who has experience leasing give me a bit of insight into the requirements. Does the
leasing company include insurance as well?

Lease where?
If you lease from a new car dealership in California, USA, it is no different than if you are purchasing and the lending institute hold title to the
car until it is paid off... or in your case, until the end of the lease at which time you can turn it back in or make it a purchase.
What all that means is you should have an authorization from the title holder (owner/leasing company) to operate the car in Mexico. Naturally you must
have FULL INSURANCE coverage in Mexico (just as if you need it in the USA). Perhaps get a written note from them? In my case, I asked and was told no
problem (just be covered).
I have taken three new leased vehicles into Baja with NEVER a problem. As long as I had full insurance coverage, that was all the financial institute
cared about. Yes, all three were Tacoma 4WD trucks financed (leased) through Toyota Financial with the dealer (Toyota Carlsbad) knowing the truck was
going into Mexico.
I have had my three leased trucks fully insured by either of two agents for Mexico: Baja Bound or Discover Baja Travel Club. My third Tacoma is now a

Sorry David. I should have been more specific. I am thinking of leasing in Mexico, Ensenada to be exact. And if the process was different then in the

Most of my friends in Ensenada who want a newer car or lease head NOB to Chula Vista or National City "Mile of Cars."
Or- they buy an older used model locally.

Basically, I don't think car leasing is a 'thing' available here in Mexico.

I'll lease you my 1997 Dodge pickup for $US200 a month when you are here. I will cover US insurance, US registration, and MX insurance. I will do
oil changes and regular maintenance included in the price at my place in Playas.
Truck runs great, great Baja car.
And it has SENTRI.

Here is a link to an ad for my truck, will lease-to-own, in only 8 months it is yours! Insurance, maintenance (in Playas), and SENTRI included! New
tires, battery, clutch, oil change and filters. 18 MPG.
