La Paz RV parks

My sister and her husband are driving down to Los Barillas for the first time in there Motor Home. Sister is a little worried about La Paz. They are going to drive from Puerto Escondido to Los Barillas but they thought it may be too far. I told them there are some trailer parks just as you come in to La Paz that would be a great spot if they don't want to go farther. Any one have any recommendations? I just drive through that area and don't stop. They would not want to go in to the city.

Also any options in Constitution and are the cops still unfriendly in Constitution?

Went through Ciudad Constitución twice in 2012, didn't even see a cop, midday. La Paz was wonderful, too.

A good way to remember if it is the double L or double R is to know that a double L makes the English Y sound, as in yellow. In Spanish: amarillo (ah-mah-ree-yoh) and not the way Texans say their city's name! LOL

The Maranatha RV park is great for a few days or overnight. Great restaurant and bar. Beautifully groomed and maintained park, but there is no shade in any of the spaces.

I do not know anything about Aquamarina, but I have stayed at Campestre Maranatha four times over the last three years, and have been very pleased with their camp. I was last there in mid Nov 2014.

Much of their business is providing camp and retreat facilities for church groups from both Mexico, and the US. They have some private rooms, dorms, RV sites, and camp sites available.
They have showers, and a laundry room (washing machines+clothes line), internet access, and a coffee shop/bakery on site.

Cindy, Jose, and their daughter are a wealth of information about the
area, and if you need propane, they can probably get a truck to deliver at the park. They are dog friendly, and I should also mention that they have a pool, but I am not sure if it is open all year.

A telephone number I have for them is; (612 )124 62 75 I have Cindy's e-mail address, but do not want to post it unless I get an OK from her. If you need more information, U2U is alright with me.

I believe that other that the Aquamarina mentioned here, they are the only place left in La Paz to hook up your rig.

Udo, there is no restaurant and bar!

I just re read the OP, about the police in Constitution. When I headed north through there last November, they had people pulled over at three different places. ALL Mexican plated vehicles! I have never had more than a wave from the police passing through there (your experience may vary).

....and I have found the police to be nice.....they just are really on the ball for opportunities to give out tickets.

Last year I rode my moto the wrong way down a one-way street....and turned around within 50 feet after realizing my error....and was greeted by a quad-cop as I was turning around....I explained my mistake...and he waved me on. Over the next few days he would wave whenever he saw me in town either riding or at my usual helado stand.

Nice guy....just don't give him a reason to ticket you :light:


In La Paz, the police expected me to wear my helmet and not drive like a tourist....and were friendly.

We have used the Maranatha Park many times and highly recommend them. Good place, good people...it doesn't get any better than that!

Palapa 206 (at km 206) - just south of Ciudad Constitución on west side of highway. RV park and motel. Adjacent to the highway - so some traffic noise until dusk then very quiet during the night.

Showers and bathrooms basic, but clean. Motel rooms very nice. Good place for overnight stop.

Mike (very helpful British expatriate) and Bertha are the owners and with their two sons manage the place. Highly recommend.

Thanks everyone for the help. As for Constitución, ( Thanks David K), I have hade them follow me through town and watching me like a hawk but never got a ticket. Last time that That happened was two years ago and I had at least three friends who had been stopped and had to pay. Nice to hear it may have improved.

We stay at Aquamarine RV every year for a week or so, great park 50amp, totally secure. We take a cab into downtown, 100 p with the tip each way, great way to see the town and enjoy some great restaurants.

I have nothing against Campestre Maranatha and is a nice place to stay but I prefer Aquamarine RV park. As Cliffh said, it's close to town and there is something for me to be next to the water which Aquamarine is. Not super duper views or anything like that but looking at the water soothes the soul!
