I believe there are some of both in the San Fran...
Have you been up there?
Thanks
Been up there twice for the cave paintings. Looked for petros east of San Ignacio, but couldn`t find them.
It was about 20 years ago so I don`t know the requirements to see the paintings today. Back then I freelanced it, hired a guide and animals and saw
the main caves in the canyon.
The environment for petros is completely different than cave paintings, so not necessarily in the same neighborhood.David K - 11-8-2015 at 10:49 AM
Petroglyphs are when the rock face is chipped at to draw.
Pictographs are when the rock face is painted on.
Geoglyphs are when large drawings are made on the ground with rocks or ditches.
All three are in Baja... a wonderful place indeed!BajaBlanca - 11-8-2015 at 12:59 PM
there are some neat petroglyphs as you drive up to the mountains but you really need a guide to show you where they are ... you could go right past
them and not even know.
We only went to a small cave called CUEVA DEL RATON which is off the main road that leads up to the town where the guides live.
Watch the film 'Bajo California: The Limit of Time' to see both... as Damien walks up to San Francisco de la Sierra to connect with his Arce family
roots. The whole movie is now on You Tube... and posted here recently on Nomad. See it on a bigger screen, if your TV has Netflix or XBox, or ? with
Internet access to You Tube.
