FMM needed going to Ensenada?

dtbushpilot - 11-16-2015 at 06:46 PM

Being a permanent resident I don't pay much attention to the latest requirements for tourists. I have family coming down to Ensenada for 4 days for the Baja 1000, do they need FMM's

Yes.

See my recent experience from Saturday in Ensenada:

they made me drive thru the red/green lights and get x-rayed then let me go park next to the buses and get my free (without asking) FMM last Sunday at 4:30am. 3 buses were loading up when i got there. Thank Neptune i didn't show up a bit earlier.

btw, the Feds were randomly stopping cars at the Las Canadas checkpoint, or had lights flashing and cars pulled over. it may have be a coincidence.

I haven't had to stop at TJ since the new crossing opened. Do I go to the "items to declare" lane and park like the old days?

If you are taking your family to get the FMMs, I think you can either park by the San Ysidro SAT building before the crossing, or after. It appears that there is parking on both sides of the border, although I've only parked after crossing. The SAT building is all the way to the right (west) when crossing going south.

i would stay to the far right. that big building on the right is your target. drive thru and if you aren't stopped pull over where the buses park. it easy, just ask for the right window for tarjeta turista.

edit: i parked before crossing and 2 guys came running over and made me drive thru first, get x-rayed then go park. maybe it was the time of day?
