East Cape Roadwork

I understand they are starting to repave the road south of La Ribira. There is a big sign at Los Frailes announcing the project.

Can anyone fill me in on the progress?

The sign at Los Frailes has nothing to do with the road work from La Ribera. They are currently repaving the road from La Ribera to Rincon which is stripping the existing pavement and re-paving. The old pavement has be removed and they are working on the new pavement with a batch plant in operation just south of the Punto Colorado turn off. The contractor has told the Pulmo residents that the work includes a new gravel surface from Rincon to Boca del Salado.

The Los Frailes sign is about work that was completed south of Frailes using Calcium Chloride and compaction which is completed and washed away by the last rain storm.

Paulclark is correct in that the paving project is from La Ribera south. Just to update. They have completed paving from the Las Lomas beach road turn in south of La Ribera for about 1 1/2 miles. They have closed the existing road surface to the Punta Colorada turn off and have a 1 lane dirt bypass just to the west of the existing surface. They have stripped up the existing potholed surface and relayed 1 layer of asphault and are working on the second layer. I only drove to the Punta Colorada turn off (we are at Lighthouse Point Estates) so I don't know anything south of that point.

I can tell you the 1 1/2 mile they have completed is a buttery smooth piece of heaven.
