PLAYAS DE ROSARITO, Baja California - A 68-year old American woman was raped and assaulted by two subjects who entered her home in the early hours of the morning and who fled after the crime.

According to the police report, at 4AM, two subjects entered the victim's home in the lower part of Primo Tapia, using an open window in the bedroom.

The woman said that one of the men had a stick and she struggled with him, but the other man subdued her and them raped her.

She said they put a lighted lamp in her face so she could not recognize them, so she could only say the man was thin and about 5'6" tall.

After the assault, the thieves took the woman's purse, which contained 300 dollars in cash, a bank card and her resident's visa, among other items.

The complaint was reported by a friend of the victim, who she had called for help.

A Red Cross ambulance came to the home to render first aid, however she refused treatment.

While this may seem commonplace in most of the world and in every urban area globally, I have only a handful of memories of this type of crime occurring anywhere in Mexico since 1969 and we had a home at Km 39 since that time!

So the "Subject" or "Title" of the post is appropriate, for it is not just "Today's News", but truly "Sad News"!

And it is not just "sad" because the victim is "American"...

What's "sad" is Baja is slowly losing its innocence and becoming more like "U.S.", if you ask me!

I'm sorry, but this is a NEWS ITEM that's reported to SELL NEWS, period. This has happened and will happen. Buy into the press, sell papers or whatever feeds the bottom-feeders that feed off of others' misfortunes.

RD, thanks for posting, but man, ain't it enough just to pull up your home page in the morning??? C'mon, man! Also, I am sorry, but Rosarito AIN'T BAJA. It used to be; now it's a pretend-SD. Go down and slum it like you are really in Mexico.... well, you ARE. How many rapes daily in SD? Or LA?

Maybe next time report on when Aaron Hernandez gets gang-raped in jail. Now that's good news.
