My wallet was stolen a couple of days ago, and I have no access to my bank cash until I get the ATM card replaced, which won't happen until after I
have left Tijuana for Bahia Asuncion. Is there a safe way to have that mailed from the USA to Guerrero Negro or Vizcaino? Don't know if a bank card is
problematic...

If you can get it sent to me in San Diego by Monday, 12/21, I can deliver it on Tuesday to you in Bahia Asuncion.

thanks SO much, and i just love how helpful we are with total strangers here at bajanomad, but the bank had to mail the card to the address on the
account in massachusetts, so it probably wont get there before christmas. you have given me hope, though, that it might not be as hard as i'd thought
to deal with this.

U2U me if there is anything I can do on my end. As I said, we'll be back in BA on Tuesday.
restored to sanity

thanks for the support, folks. have decided the sane thing to do is sit here at home in tijuana until i can get the card to friends' in chula vista
and go get it in the usa. like the song says, i cant always get what i want, so i will just be grateful for getting all i need and more...

Bank of America is not on many peoples 'good guys' list, but when I lost my Visa card last year while in Northern California, they were fantastic!
I went into a local branch to report the loss in person, and received a replacement by overnight delivery! There was no charge for that service.

leaving the subject of BofA aside (cuz this is not the political forum, and i wouldnt want to start no controversy, jajaja), i have had exactly the
same experience with MY bank. unfortunately, i can't do it this way right now cuz i am with a state savings/loan in massachusetts! oh well...

Hola,
i had a problem with an atm in los barriles a few years ago.
using the atm at bancomer, after entering all my info, the machine didn't give me my money and ATE my card, meaning it shredded the card in the
machine. the manager said SORRY !
anyway, after that episode, i went to my bank in los angeles when i got back and opened four more debit card accounts so if that happened again, i
could transfer monies from one account to another. i keep the extra cards in a secure place separate from my working one.
just a thought.
BIEN SALUD, DA RAT

DA RAT, Not a bad idea, I have not thought of that! One thing I did think of, is using different banks for my credit and debit accounts. That way,
fraud against one will not spill over to the other.
Like you, I transfer funds as needed so that limited funds are exposed at any given time. Also my cards are set to be declined rather than have
overdraft protection.

AND A GOOD THOUGHT! thanks, i may just do that next chance i get. come to think of it, since my current bank only operates in mass., maybe i will just
open a BofA account in CA USA, and i could transfer money from one to the other if i needed to...

I hate thieves. and ATMs that eat debit cards too.
having the different accounts is a brilliant idea - I have different debit cards for the same account. and keep them separate.
