Came through there yesterday and that section of road is deplorable and the community should be ashamed to let that roadway get in such condition.
And ,of course, it has all to do with the mining operation and I believe they should be held accountable.
But as of right now it's by far the worst piece of road on the entire peninsula, far worse than the notorious stretch around Catavina.

You are talking about just the couple/few miles through town or beyond?

The road is quite bad right around El Morro Hotel on the south side of town. It is also really bad north of the city center, and I suspect that is
what you are talking about. Luckily, it is only a very short distance. Once you exit the town and make the turn west towards San Ignacio, the road
is quite good and newly maintained.
Personally, I think the potholes around Laguna Chapala are among the worst. The vados on the 5 south of San Felipe are also quite bad.

North of town proper....but before going up the hill.
In close proximity to where the mining operation is.
I suspect there might be a feud between the town administration and the mining jefes as to who is going to repair the ugly spots.

No City Money...

I think you can go faster over the topes than the rest of the road.

The road in town has always been bad and made worse by odile. I suspect the mine is treating the town like Cortes did the natives and sucking
everything out without putting anything back in. That would be an opinion only

The road in town may be crappy, but you have to drive slowly though town, anyway. I still believe that the road South of Catavina is the absolute
worst section of Highway One. South of El Morro, the pavement is fine.

Wow, the only conspiracy theory we are missing is that Extra-Terrestrials are somehow responsible. The city is very short of funds and is responsible
for repair from city limit to city limit. When Odile as well as the heavy rains of summer knocked out sections, it is very slow getting funds
together to repair. If you remember, the same was true for the highway through Vizcaino for several years. Actually, the mine has put some money in
the coffer specially designated for that purpose, but the city is still trying to get some state monies for the project.

We should all get together and complain......to each other of course! I don't think we have much of a voice anywhere else.
