I wish Toyota luck and hope it all works out for many years. The only thing that bothers me is the lack of automation in the plant. Having people weld
instead of machines can be a problem in terms of overall quality and quality has been the high mark for Toyota.

I was thinking the same thing Tom. And ingenuity might not be the best thing for quality control either. Be interesting to see the pricing in Mex vs
the US.

Don't think it will make the price any better. Ford Focus is made in Mexico as well and the price is $6-7 thousand more here than in the U.S. Our
Mexican friends prefer purchasing cars in the U.S. and importing them because it's still less expensive than buying them here.

Doesn't Dodge do a special deal for the Mexicans because they have plants in Mexico.

Possibly. Am basing my "knowledge" on a national who owns a new Focus (purchased in Mexico) and what he paid for it as well as other locals who have
gone to the U.S. to purchase their autos. There are restrictions on what they can import which would make them buy here. VW's are made in Puebla and
I think they're more expensive here as well.
