AR 15, AK 47, and a shotgun. Determined from shell casings.

I didn't know Vizcaino had drug cartel (most likely given the weapons) problems.

Hmmm, drugs coming ashore in the area?

BajaBlanca - 2-2-2016 at 11:17 AM

too darn close to us. what a bummer.

Udo - 2-2-2016 at 01:11 PM

Bad news!

Baja Bucko - 2-2-2016 at 02:18 PM

Vizcaino has had cartel/drug issues for a long time...this is not new.....

chuckie - 2-2-2016 at 02:44 PM

Exactly..and it will continue....and get worse...signs of the times.....

SFandH - 2-2-2016 at 03:57 PM

Actually things have gotten better in Tijuana since the Sinaloa cartel, the Tijuana cartel, and the local government guys are having boys night out together with the best of the TJ working girls and piles of cocaine. Still a lot of murders of street dealers in the slums, but, you know, asi es.

chuckie - 2-2-2016 at 06:15 PM

I thought this happened in Vizcaino?

SFandH - 2-2-2016 at 06:27 PM

just reacting to your doom and gloom prediction by providing an example of things getting better in notorious TJ

but it's tough to make predictions, especially about the future. :D

Good advice for most anywhere

I just have to ask why Vizcaino would be a good place for the cartels? It does not make sense to me. There's no real airport. It has a small population. It is like halfway on the peninsula. Why Vizcaino? Thanks.

Bet someone in BA has details but won't be writing much about it here. This stuff is too close to home.

Vizcaino is the supply center for everything, not just drugs, for all of the coastal cities, ranchos, villages on the east side in that part of Baja California Sur. The drug problem has been there for a very long time and a few years ago there were many problems -- a turf war. So there is a lot more than meets the eye as one drive through. And cartels want exclusive rights.

Drug problems are in all of the coastal cities; Tortugas, Bahia Asuncion, Abreojos and all the little pueblos in between and there are several small time dealers in the towns and the participants are often surprising. Drugs are responsible, usually, for the break-ins, etc., And Vizcaino will remain the center.

I hate to see it happen again.

Drugs

This so called "War On Drugs" is a bad joke for the USA and a lot of other folks..It's does make the CIA (Cocaine international aviation) lot's more money and control..Its HAS NOT worked and WILL NOT Stop the flow of drugs into the usa.. But Americans don't get to vote on chit and think they are free and that the gov is there for Them...Hey,, I know.....Lets give them assault rifles and get more folks killed and NO ONE even gets a demeanor or fired...Disgusted to be from what is left of the USA !! keep waving that flag and starting wars all over the globe Washinton DC..Which is not the USA....FACT !!

Use Google Earth and see the runways at the big corporate farms near Vizcaíno. That farm 'product' gets shipped out by plane to the market for 'freshness!'

Cheap meth gets the pickers moving.

Bajahowodd - 2-5-2016 at 06:10 PM

As Artie Johnson used to say on Laugh-in , "Very interesting".

Just didn't seem to me that this wide spot in the road would become a hub of drug trafficking. But, I guess that is exactly why they are there.

Are you accusing the Corporate farms here of moving drugs? quiet naive.

This area has been center for moving drugs for a long time, and has nothing to do with Corporate farms. its a crossroads of activity, air, land and sea.
