Septic tank

yankeeirishman - 1-25-2005 at 06:01 PM

Anyone here have a rough idea how much it cost to have a septic put in? The San Felipe area.

Thanks to all that give great info on our Campo Ocotillo future septic system. The catfight here was great too! I ve posted a newspaper clipping from the Sacramento Bee regarding the findings of "sh_t in the water" in wells......from open septic tanks! Please read it.

Well

How much you going to use the thing? Mine cost, well, damn near nothing. I dropped a 60 gallon drum quite a few feet into the sand w/some holes drill about 2/3 the way up and a couple of feet of rock all the way around it. Mexican style:cool:. Seems to work great.

PacO that is a nice way to start a cholera epidemic. this is what most of the people that stay in conception bay do and the place smells like a sewer because that is what they have turned it into.Just where do you think that untreated sewerage gos. you flush your toilet and then go for a swim. **********************.read a book and learn something be for you make every one sick. mabe you like to bath in your on waste but I don't. even if you are not on the beach that system will contaminate the ground water. wow *********

what you have done is put in a leach Field with out a septic system.

I hope this makes you mad because your **** post sure made me mad.
:O:O

sooooooo..............?

yankeeirishman - 1-25-2005 at 09:59 PM

So! Again....anyone with some dollar numbers? I plan to use the septic 120 days out of the year

Well, Bruce

I just did what all the "humans" around me have done and recommended. Doesn't make me mad at all. Like I said, depends on your usage. In fact, I've read quite a bit about it and actually used to work for a munincipal water/wastewater district. Maybe you just chit an extroirdinary amount! Being that I am hardly ever there and it being a gringo enclave and all..... I think the percolation and capacity work OK. Warm bucket, warm rocks, some bacteria, some warm sand.... sounds like biological breakdown to me. Don't want to or desire to out do the locals. ***********************
On edit I'll just add this. Your opinion means naught.

120 days

I would take a 60 gallon barrel and plumb directly into it and then about 1/4 from the top run an 1 1/2 " pipe to a second barrel from which you can run leach lines off of. The first barrel will collect the solid waste and generate bacteria to break it down and "clearer" water will rise and flow into the second barrel and eventually rise to the level of the leach lines and drain.
Ask the locals what they do. It doesn't matter if you put in the b-tchen system when your neighbors put in the minimal.

Bruce R Leech - 1-25-2005 at 10:16 PM

the price can vary greatly depending on your soil and sub soil type and how close you are to running and ground water and the capacity necessary.

you will need a minimum of three compartments of five hundred gallons each and the leach Field needs to be engineered for your local conditions.

I will try to get you some drawings and post tomorrow. and you can get some local bids.

Do what the locals do, dig a hole, fill the hole, cover the hole, dig another hole.

Worked very well in my grandfathers ranch.

You're building in Campo Ocotillo arn't you? Might want to check if they have any restrictions on type there. With all the development in the area, they are getting fussier about things like septics. Salvadore should be able to give you a idea to compare to. That close to the beach they might require a holding tank system with no leach field.

What I have, (about 3 miles to the west up the hill) is a approx. 500 gal fibreglass tank with a pipe at mid highth running to a brick and rock thing built up about 6 feet away. This is the leach field in this sandy soil. These were approved by the Mex Gov for instialtion in this area. Now their building a similar sized structure of cement and blocks. (doesn't cave in as easily if you drive over it.) I think I heard about $1500 installed in El Dorado.

Seems like taking a crap is expensive for some.

It's a shame all that got censored.

PacO - 1-25-2005 at 10:46 PM

It was far more intertaining in the original form.

septics

I bought a black plastic 2 compartment treatment plant for one of our offices about 5 yrs ago and its working just fine, costs was about $800 dlls in La Paz.

MICK - 1-26-2005 at 07:37 AM

WOW, Ask a simple question!
we just paid 1700.00 for a cement block tank and were north of SF. I agree you should check with what you can put in legally. Our system seems to work good. Good luck.

There are seven construction-related contacts in San Felipe on this web site:
http://www.sanfelipe.com.mx/business/construction.html

You can probably get an aswer to your question there w/o the editorial comments.
