Does anyone know what shape the road from Bahia to Camp Gecko is like now? I'm leaving home Thursday and Doc. hasn't responded to email.....Thanks
if you can help.David K - 1-25-2005 at 10:53 PM
On New Years, it was 'average'... I have seen it both worse, and better on previous trips. It is only 4 miles, and Bedman had his GIANT new motorhome
at Gecko, no problema.JESSE - 1-25-2005 at 10:56 PM

You sir, are truly Mr Baja, and the envy of this board when it comes to many Baja matters.

Here is the road, as we were heading north from Gecko...

Jesse, thanks but please... I love your country and it is really a pleasure to report on what I have experienced there.
Perhaps you can join us on some off road adventure? Maybe Semana Santa?JESSE - 1-25-2005 at 11:04 PM

That seems like a great offer David, i do feel a little stressed out from too much work, maybe a few tequilas under the stars telling old Baja stories
can take care of that.
Send me a PM and lets see what happens. David K - 1-25-2005 at 11:18 PM
I think it would be great if some good Nomads did just that! A roaring campfire, some cold beer, and good tequila.
Here was just such a great Easter weekend trip, last year: http://vivabaja.com/404 when we met new Nomad friends: Jide, BajaLou, Mexitron, Pappy, Taco de Baja, & Burro Bob!Debra - 1-26-2005 at 12:04 AM
My concern is about the rain I've heard they have been haveing this winter, there were a couple of spots that were bad enough last summer, I will be
with a first timer in a large Moho and towing.... I like to break them in gentally. 4baja - 1-26-2005 at 07:09 AM
franko is there now and doc should be there by now. theres only a few places on that road that can be bad but if it was i'm sure that its fixed by
now. i hered that doc has bought a new boat and is trying to import it to mexico, that may be why hes not there now.FrankO - 1-26-2005 at 08:40 AM
We had to postpone our trip, had a few to many loose ends to tie up and it just wasn't happening. We are heading next month around the 16-17th so I'll
see you there.

I just called, and O'side school district is off the week strarting Easter Sunday (Mar. 27- Apr. 2) So no school 3/26-4/3. Watch out Baja, here we
come!Bob H - 1-26-2005 at 04:57 PM
Can't remember, is Semana Santa the week BEFORE Easter or the week AFTER? I think I remember it now as being the week leading up to Easter Sunday.

Hi Debra,
So, you're heading south? It's about time!! I got an email last week from a friend who lives in town. I guess they had rain for a good 5 days straight
and lost power in the town as well. Generator went kaput, got another. All is well now, the sun was out two days ago, the wild flowers are going
crazy! Your first timers will be seeing Bahia in all her glory!
As everyone said, the road should be fine. It only gets bad in a couple of places when it decides to make it rough, but you drive so darned slow
anyway that you'll have no problems! Ja Ja Ja.
Say hi to Hector and Sunshine for us. Maybe you'll find their long lost youngster in the bushes somewhere. I might have overlooked him!
You know where we are if you guys get hungry on the drive down...

Thanks, I got an email from Doc. this morning, and he is still in TJ (yes he bought a new boat) he said he hopes to be down in about a week (good
thing, when I mentioned the great fishing I got a big grin, and a nod on a trip that was first planned for Death Valley) , maybe I'll supply Doc. with
his first charter on the new boat. I probably won't make it down for 2wks. Meeting friends in Death Valley and then I have some business to take
care of in SD (I'm a passenger so I can't know just when anything might happen.
Doc. said the road is no worse than when I was there last summer...so that is good, no surprizes (I know where the icky spots are ) so we will be fine.....
Any chance you and Whiskey Girl will be down?
David, you have to remember, Bedman is an 'ol pro.....I'm with a "newbie"
we will be fine......
If any Nomads are around the village or Camp Gecko (probably in about 2wks.) look for a 32ft. class C towing a black Nison with Wa. plates. The
cervasa is on me.
Thanks everyone.....

We will of course stop by for a visit with Hector y Sunshine. I will check on that wandering nino, perhaps if I find him I should bring him to you
and you can have a stern talk with him explaining that he won't get to go home until he learns to stay put! Or until his parents learn not to let him
run off, they are young after all. these teenage parents!bajalou - 1-26-2005 at 07:19 PM

Well, the truth be told, the condition of the road between the village and Docs isn't really important! The four mile drive that takes many of us
five minutes will be quite secure for Deb. Unless it turns out that her incle is a "normal" driver. If he can ignore all the hints and suggestions
from Deb, it might take them about 45 minutes.
But if he listens to her rambling directions it'll take forever. But at least they'll have the trailer and can dedicate several days to covering the
trip. After all, what's the rush??? Go slow, open a box of fine wine and just relax!4baja - 1-26-2005 at 08:14 PM
yes we will be down in around 2 weeks, me and some buddies have some work to do and we want to meet up with franko again. may see you down there.
Mike.....

Just for that! I think I should have a little fun and park that 32ft.er side ways in the road and hope you decide to join our little party.....you
SIR can take the 'outback' and see just who gets there first!
Steve, glad to hear we might run into to you......you can give the scoop on where/what/ and just which little 'icky' things to use to insure we have a
sushimi feast.......I'll bring the wasabi.
The New one..

Deb,
If I can make it, you can make it! The road from town was in ok shape. Just a few big rocks to watch out for, and the Vados are in fine shape. The
good news (or bad?) is the road from Hwy #1 is paved all the way into town now. Really nice driving (damn it).
( Let me see if I can upload a picture. Using the all new Panther OS for Mac and I'm still finding my way around it)
