BajaBlanca - 2-12-2016 at 05:20 PM

batida does indeed mean whip but I have never heard this before....

it's sure NOT marked "cream"...
that's "sour cream"

we cant find it here so we replace it with "lala media cream" in the box
other brands have an "off" taste

Good luck finding it in your neck of the woods, Blanca.

Either Ensenada or La Paz.:tumble:

Correct, I found it in a supermarket (La Paz).

They always carried Knutsen Whip Cream, but now its 'crema batida' from a Mexican brand. Works perfectly.....

They have been selling this non dairy ready to whip topping here in Asuncion made by pastrypride which is pretty good. Same consistency of heavy cream and whips up real nice. Spanish label says "Colbertura y relleno para pasteleria lista para batir"

obesity is right! it is not for me, alas, it is for our neighbor who is far from obese - they just moved here and are going thru the "I can't live without xxxx" phase. We have all been there and done that.

Most of you who have not been here have never seen our mega super market. It is so big and has such an assortment of good both from Costco in US and Mexican produce that we call it our mini Costco.

That being said, Cyndi had asked another guy who was indeed in La Paz to get it. He will now look for it at Ley's in Santa Rosalia.

Thanks for the great responses and I will tell her about the non-dairy version. She needs the cream for ice-cream - and I have no idea if this would work.

Ice Cream

bajaguy - 2-13-2016 at 11:41 AM

Yes, it will work.

I have an electric crank ice cream freezer and use a non-cook/eggs vanilla recipe. I mix equal amounts of the heavy cream with half & half and it turns out great. Can add any fresh fruit, chocolate or coffee and have a wonderful dessert

Can "media Crema" be used in place of Crema Batida? I mean, will media crema whip up like crema batida?
