North bound border crossing

Lengua - 2-13-2016 at 02:24 PM

We are traveling N bound heading to Oregon in late March. We will be crossing with our Ford F - 250 Super crew cab and 20 Grady White ,We're about 38-40 feet long.

I'd prefer not to cross at Tijuana , what is the best alternative crossing to Tijuana ?
Otay , Tecate ???? I mentioned the total length of the rigs so you will take that into consideration.

Thanks

You could always leave the Grady with me

At SY (TJ).. stay in the far left lane, as it gives you a almost straight shot across the border and onto the 5fwy..
Another option is Tecate.. Where you should be able to cross with no problems from the left lane(only two lanes)..

Buena Suerte

Went through Otay today and it took forever!!! Otay has been my exit of choice but today they had seven lanes open for the ready lines and two open for the rest of us!!. Was funny though, when we finally got to the gate (2 hours 45 minutes starting at 8:56 AM) the agent asked me if I had Oregon plates on the car? I said yes!! He asked were we had been and I said "La Paz", and he said " did you fly down???? Where do they find these people?

Otay may be the best choice with a pickup pulling a rig. It's a straight shot across the border. Tecate has a sharp right turn just before the cubicles where the agents stand. As already said, at San Ysidro stay to the far left, otherwise it involves a right turn for the exit lanes.

Waiting times are a crap shoot. On Monday (Presidents Day holiday) at San Ysidro it was 50 minutes in the Sentri Lane around 5 pm. Plan your crossing mid week between 9 am and 3 pm to hit the less congested times.
