Matomí Falls A Baja Quest (Baja Bound March 2016)

David K - 3-17-2016 at 05:20 PM

An article about my quest to find the famous waterfall of Matomí:

After the first trip to Matomí Canyon in 1978, and getting to the falls in 1979, I returned several more times over the years. The following are some trip pages on the last three visits:
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ---------------------------------------------
Matomí Trip web pages:

More photos from the camera of elgatoloco and Baja Barb who joined me on a 2001 President's Day weekend Amigos de Baja group trip there: http://www.vivabaja.com/elgatoloco/

Amo Pescar's 2001 photos: http://www.vivabaja.com/amo

My pics from 2001: http://www.vivabaja.com/matomi/

In 2004, President's Day weekend, we have the second Matomí group trip, only now we are Baja Nomads! The Matomí day trip pics begin here: http://www.vivabaja.com/204/page5.html

In 2006, I took Baja Angel to Matomí, coming up from Hwy. 5 this time: http://vivabaja.com/618/page4.html

4x4abc - 3-17-2016 at 09:00 PM

good one!

Few guys do what most guys only talk about.

David K - 3-17-2016 at 09:25 PM

Thank you amigos!
Yes, I write about the past... it is something that really happened and in this case, to me.
Not everyone is into history, but when you combine it with off roading and Baja, how can you not be? LOL!

Barry A. - 3-17-2016 at 10:18 PM

Thanks, David K. To me this is what this forum is all about, and I always look forward to your posts about Baja.

Mexitron - 3-18-2016 at 05:36 AM

You hit the nail on the head. The history of Baja combined ,with off roading. ;)

I remember the 2004 trip, lots of fun and beautiful sites to see.

Thanks DK for the memories.

x2 That's exactly what I was thinking. Plus there's another area nearby I would like to explore.

Enrique2012 - 3-18-2016 at 12:56 PM

Great article David, I loved it. I really admire the fact that you get down there and explore the most remote areas.

Bravo.

David K - 3-18-2016 at 05:58 PM

Thank you Enrique!
Sadly, between the economy and old age, my Baja adventures are getting fewer...

Read my other Baja Travel Adventure stories, on Baja Bound: https://www.bajabound.com/bajaadventures/bajatravel/

along with a couple others not yet posted to that list page:

This is pretty funny. DK posts something (doesn't matter what) and chucky jumps in with an insult but has to "delete and run" because the rest of the bash DK losers didn't jump in with him but now that he has some back up he tries to get back in to the fray with some desperate attempt at insults to try to be relevant in the bash DK loser group. You guys really crack me up, thanks for the good laugh at your expense.

woody with a view - 3-19-2016 at 05:42 PM

You guys are boring. If you don't like DK don't read his stuff. All the same BS chewed up and regurgitated over and over again. At least goat is entertaining.

It's kinda like watching a trump rally around here sometimes. Don't know how Doug can put up with it. This place needs more pictures and trip reports not opinions or a show of hand sizes!

chuckie - 3-19-2016 at 06:30 PM

Thanks so much for your input Woody! Always nice to hear from you!

woody with a view - 3-19-2016 at 06:42 PM

Thanks Chuckie. Have a nice weekend.

chuckie - 3-19-2016 at 07:52 PM

We are tagging calves, that time of the year....Always fun....

Chuckie...when are you going to learn. DavidK is never wrong. He is only here to help. and never make a political statement nor would he ever troll and delete..nor would he ever delete when the pressure is on and he knows he is wrong. Never wrong..Never rong> never

David K - 3-20-2016 at 10:08 AM

Glad you got me figured out. Ha ha ha.

don't mention Pacifico outage - that would be super tragic.
Or cigars.
I have been driving from La Paz to Ligui for puros.

Have to think about how far I would drive for Pacificos.

David K - 3-20-2016 at 07:19 PM

Bob H would love that photo Harald!

Cigars

Genecag - 3-20-2016 at 09:25 PM

I love the quote ' no cigar smoker ever committed suicide '

Good to meet a fellow nomad cigar smoker. We will be in La Paz in April. Let's smoke a cigar!

He has Harry Crosby's 1974 book, The King's Highway in Baja California, and I have published here the Howard Gulick 1954 ECR maps and notes.

Ken Cooke - 4-3-2016 at 08:23 PM

That is a great article, David!

David K - 4-3-2016 at 09:19 PM

Thanks Ken! It was one of the first special places I just had to get to when I began driving my own 4WDs to Baja!
