Free 7 day FMM to PVR or Cabo?

mrfatboy - 4-1-2016 at 11:12 AM

Can I get a free 7 day FMM if I fly out of TIJ airport to Cabo or PVR if the trip is 7 days or less?

I'm blanking on if it's only applies for car travel or not.

As we all know the fmm is included in the ticket price/ taxes fees, when flying from the US into Mex. Just GUESSING, an fmm
bought at the TJ Airport. one would have to get the 180 day
fmm. Just thought of something, if one was to walk thru, either
Otay or SY, get the free 6 nt, 7 day fmm, then fly out of TJ,
wonder if that would work

As Sancho said...the FMM is included in your ticket, and you have to return it on the flight back, even if that is 6 months away.

There is no FMM fee included in the TIJ-SJD route. There is an INM booth to purchase the FMM for the normal fee of about $22-25 which is required, though this applies to so few people that it is not well communicated or understood. Simply go directly to the INM booth at TIJ and get it per usual or you may be very sorry later. 7 day free does not apply to BCS and may no longer apply to the border zone depending on who you ask.

This is exactly what I am asking. I would be crossing Otay on foot and taking a plane from TIJ to Cabo. The trip would be less then 7 days. Do I have to buy the $22 180 day FFM or can I get a free 7 day FMM for the trip?

@gnukid
What exactly do you mean by "7 day free FMM no longer applies to BCS"? Can you clarify?

Apparently, there is no (more) "border zone".....myth or legend??

My understanding is there is no border zone, that technicaly
all tourists, at least at TJ. require an fmm, whether walking
or driving. On the otherhand one can go into Mexicali for the
day without an fmm.
A little clarification from Mex Imm would be nice, a posting in
the Imm offices CLEARLY stating the regs, and a constant
application from TJ to Algodones. But it is Mex. Read of a
guy recently crossing Mexicali, went to get the 7 day fmm,
was told he didn't turn in his last one, was told he HAD to
get the 180 fmm, on the spot. Was also issued a ticket for
dropping his wife off in front of the Mexicali west Imm office
while he looked for a parking spot. Just have to adapt to
whatever Mex Imm requires at any given time

Update.

My friend got her 7 day free FMM at the TIJ airport (flying Volaris). She is will be in Cabo for 5 days. Good information to know :)

Now.... Can you get the same 7 day free FMM if you fly into the mainland (ie. Puerto Vallarta) if you will be there for less than 7 days?
