Is this only for the San Felipe area?

exede_san_felipe - 4-5-2016 at 11:20 PM

no, we are offering in all baja, anywhere anytime, and don't get scared exede is legal with anybody allowed to install, like us.

Mula - 4-6-2016 at 03:42 AM

The Ensenada Exede will not come in here in Puerto A Lopez Mateos.

They have been here 3 times now trying to get it to come in.

exede_san_felipe - 4-6-2016 at 08:22 AM

weird, i am sure there is a working beam in that area, let me find out, that is half way down B.C.S right?

Mula - 4-6-2016 at 08:24 AM

Yes.
San Juanico on the Pacific Coast - 2 hours to the north of Lopez gets the beam.

We don't. Have tried 3 different sized dishes, and all sorts of stuff.
Just over the cusp.

exede_san_felipe - 4-6-2016 at 08:31 AM

well let me research on that, one thing for sure is that if there is no beam there yet, soon you might one, there a some gossip around exede, hopefully it becomes true. get back to you when i figure something.

Mula - 4-6-2016 at 08:53 AM

Thanks.

Pescador - 4-6-2016 at 09:08 AM

If I did not know better, I would think this is a small slam against Osiris in Ensenada who had the foresight, determination, and courage to get the whole Exede thing started in the Baja Peninsula who I have gotten to know over time and highly respect as a successful businessman and just plain a good human being. From my perspective I almost always go with the leader and watch the followers.

larryC - 4-6-2016 at 11:08 AM

Pescador
I agree that Osiris in Ensenada got this going, but the "respect as a businessman" part you might want to rethink. Or do you still believe the quote from Osiris below?

yes right now our only obstacle is getting the people to belive in this product beacuase they say exede dosnt work any were south of erendida

but ill explain why were able to get it to work is beacuse our company satelite del norte rented out a space on a satellite and were beaming from there

so its just a matter of time the only problem is that we only were able to rent out 300 account after that were not going to offer exede

but what we can say is this

if anybody want to switch to high speed internet reach out now before its to late

6461360495 or email hamit_parral@hotmail.com

I say he lied to a lot of people and over charged them for equipment that was and still is free from Exede in the first place.

[Edited on 4-6-2016 by larryC]

exede_san_felipe - 4-6-2016 at 11:55 AM

ok, you see, and i don't like to talk about people, i respect everybody's work because we have families, but i also believe that lying to sell something to someone is not fear, i have seen people getting charged $800 to $1,250 usd just to get the installation done, i have seen flyers from companies ( i won't post them) charging $1,350 for the equipment and installation when we all know that with the 10 usd monthly lease the equipment is only $240 usd and gets paid in 2 years, that is why i am into this job, because i hate injustice, now you might just think that this is trying to convince you but i am not, you are free to go to the best person that you think he provides you the best service, but one thing is true, I DON'T SELL PIRATED EXEDE, THERE IS NO SUCH THING, do a search in facebook, you will find the flyers there. If anyone has a doubt about what i just wrote, send me a U2U.

Mula - 4-6-2016 at 12:18 PM

Osiris sold me 2 dishes and 1 modem.
Told me I could have Exede in San Nicolas with 1 dish and take the modem and the other dish to the Lopez place it would work just fine.

Now almost a year later, I still am stuck with Hughes in Lopez and Exede in San Nicolas.

His installers - Jose Davila and Isaac Chavez both have been here trying to get a signal. No go.

Osiris has dropped me like a hot potato and I haven't even b-tched much.

Just waiting!!!!!

exede_san_felipe - 4-6-2016 at 12:33 PM

Well, i just got the info, that location has never been inside a beam, exede does not get still that far south, and in case they open a new beam, you will have to attach your secondary equipment to that beam under a new contract, unless of course they make the beam bigger.

Mula - 4-6-2016 at 01:25 PM

So screwed! Thanks anyway.

It is very unlikely that Exede will put in a new beam. beam 88 is the beam that works in most of Baja and since Viasat/Exede is not trying to sell in Mexico they won't enlarge the 88 beam.
Your best chance to get service in Lopez is when Viasat launches their next Sat in January of 2017. The new sat will cover all of Mexico including Baja.
Hope it works for you.

exede_san_felipe - 4-6-2016 at 01:42 PM

Yes LarryC, I agree with you, but once that sat launches, many things will change, i just hope that they do in good way for all of us service providers and customers.

We installed Exede here in Loreto about a month and a half ago. It is working however I would say it is marginal. We're waiting for an updated etira to see if that helps. The bigger problem that we are seeing is that we hit the 10gig cap about 20 days into the cycle. We're used to no cap internet and have a desktop, two Kindles and an iphone that must all be "talking" even when we're not. So we are trying to understand how to minimize the data stream. Don't like the cost nor the cap, but off grid is off grid, what can you say.

well, for what i read, i think your problem is that the devices are updating automatically, you need to shut down that option in general setting in iphone, shut down windows updates in the pc and the apps updates in the kindles, this process solves that issue by a 90%.

exede_san_felipe - 4-6-2016 at 10:28 PM

Amazon Kindle HD - Turn off automatic app updates

To disable automatic app updates on the Amazon Kindle Fire HD, follow the below procedure:

Open the Quick settings menu.
Tap on More.
Go to Applications > Amazon Applications.
Tap on App Store Automatic Updates.
Uncheck Enable Automatic Updates.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Disabling Automatic App Updates

Turning off automatic app updates can be a bit tricky to find in the settings, but follow these quick steps and you’ll be done in no time.

Open up the Settings app.
Tap on App and iTunes Stores.
Under the section titled Automatic Downloads, you’ll see an item called Updates.
Tap on the toggle switch to turn it off so that it goes from green to gray.
If it’s already gray, then the setting is already changed and there’s nothing you need to do further.

here is the answer to the data cap...
http://www.gargoyle-router.com/shop/

this works and monitors your use...
if you use too much per day it cuts you off
you can have it reset daily

the phones only need to be put on airplane mode if not in use...if they are not the speed really slows

I have someone that may be interested in a legal system, what shall I tell them their cost will be excluding installation? they will need a factura.

[Edited on 4-11-2016 by larryC]

exede_san_felipe - 4-10-2016 at 07:34 PM

Well, on my opinion, i believe that all the customers, current and future, don't really care the installation address is located at, as long as it works great (not good), we provide a good name to the brand and really serve what we offer, that will keep customers happy, and that is what we are working for, there is no such thing as legal or illegal, the beam gets all the way to here for a reason, and we know they (viasat) can control the range of it, now, they will come to mexico, sooner than what we expect, trust me, and there we will see how exede will work with mexican ip's, in the mean time, let's stick with what we have, and let's make it right.

Well, as far as i know, the legal dealers in mexico are only allowed to sell commercial exede, and as far i know, all of us are doing both, even you, i mean, i understand your meaning but analyze what you are saying, you will have to quit selling to the people that don't have or want a commercial exede contract, you have an installation crew, they are doing residential, correct me if i am wrong.

unfortunately no, at least no yet.

Exede will not come in to Lopez Mateos on Mag Bay. Does come in to San Juanico - Scorpion Bay . . . . but not Lopez.

So no La Paz. And I don't think it goes in to Agua Verde/San Cosme either.

Alexmcnc - 11-1-2016 at 07:18 PM

After reading this thread, I feel compelled to share my experience with Exede and Osiris. SPOILER ALERT: my experience has left me frustrated and disappointed with both Exede and especially Osiris, and more than a month with no connectivity (still ongoing). I signed up for Exede less that 1 year ago, with promises of high speeds, good service, and no BS. I live in San Juanico, and Jose Davila out of Loreto was the installer. After several hundred dollars up front for equipment and install, and ~$60/mos for service we were up and running. To be fair, initially the broadband was good. I left Baja this mid June after enjoying a sweet southern hemi swell, and headed to our farm in the Gorge for the summer. Upon returning on October 1, I had no connectivity. Multiple emails to Osiris brought no solutions. In fact, it took 2 weeks for anyone on his team to even reply. Since then, despite (at one point) daily emails, Osiris has provided no workable solution, rarely responds to emails, and when he does, he offers what appear to me to be nonsensical and repetitive suggestions, that appear to be stalling tactics. I can take you through the variety of deceptive tactics he has employed to not support Exede, but for the purposes of this post, let's just say I am very frustrated, without connectivity, and Osiris no longer is even trying (from my perspective he never did). There are several in SJ who have similar issues with Osiris. At one point, he committed to come to town and fix everything, but when the scheduled date arrived, he didn't. We received a later email saying he had to "reschedule." BEWARE!! When I threatened to contact Exede directly, he logged on to my my.exede Acct, changed my account information, to try and make my ability to file a complaint more difficult. Also, when I checked my online account info earlier, before he tried to cover his tracks, it appears that at inception he had fraudulently entered my physical service address as someplace in AZ. I'm not sure that Exede is allowed to sell in Baja, hence the obfuscation on Osirisis' part. Be careful with Exede and Osiris. If your satellite or modem stops working, he seems to be very reticent to help, and you have no recourse to Exede. Jose Davila claims to be solely the installer, an independent contractor, and also offers limited help, but at least he responds to email, unlike Osiris. I hate to naysay, but my experience has not been a happy one. Also, Exede has left a wake of unhappy customers in the states, as seen in the below link. This is just one of many websites showing many angry and unhappy Exede customers.

http://satellitecomplaints.com/exede-reviews/

Russ - 11-2-2016 at 06:18 AM

I've been on a satellite service since Direcway. None have been easy to deal with and service has never lived up to the sales hype. So far Excede has had the most reliable connection at the fastest speed. Osiris and crew installed my Excede and the connection has been good until this summer.. That being said Excede has been the most difficult to deal with over the phone to resolve issues. Their service reps speak English, actual their Americans, but they haven't the training of a Mexican gas pumper. I've spoken with over 15 different reps and almost 10 hours on the phone and most have been willing to help but just don't have the resources at hand to help and say they need to talk with "corporate" to authorize changes. When the beam went down this summer I spent hours on the phone and each said they'd have to send a service tech out and wanted to sell me a service contract. Even after I explained that I was in a remote site and that their recommended service contractor was 500 miles away. Pescador new of my dilemma which he was also having. He called his friend Osiris and he wasn't available at the time but soon contacted Pescador and sent him a fix which was passed on to me. And it solve the problem. However during all this back and forth with Excede service reps one of them changed my billing address name and now they are telling me I have to cancel my contract and get a new one to make a name correction. I haven't asked Orisis yet but that is my next move.

larryC - 11-2-2016 at 06:23 AM

Alexmcnc
Exede closed beam 88 recently and sent updates to the accounts that are on that beam. Beam 88 services your area. If your modem was off during that time it would not get the updates. I have found several modems here in BoLA that are just now being turned on and they don't get the update automatically and then won't go online. I suspect that is your problem also. I suggest you call your installer and see if he is aware of the update and the new codes that are necessary to program into the modem to get it working. If he isn't then he can contact me and I can help.
Larry

Russ - 11-2-2016 at 07:19 AM

Larry, Good explanation of the outage with beam 88. A few here were able to get the update but the service folks told me they couldn't fix mine because my dish needed realignment even when I explained I had intermittent service. The fix I was sent was a reinstall so if they changed beams it must be set about the same. No dish alignment needed.

larryC - 11-2-2016 at 08:02 AM

Russ
The beams for baja all come from the same sat so a dish alignment is necessary. When you put the modem into install mode there is a 16 digit code necessary that tells the modem which beam to use. I'm guessing that's what you did. For some reason some of the modems won't take the update (mine didn't so when I got down here last week I couldn't get online) and a few of them even if you put in the new code then the modem gets corrupted and still won't work but that is pretty rare.

Floatflyer - 11-2-2016 at 08:33 AM

After suffering with Hughes Net for years, trying the "banda ancha" of Tel Cel, and wishing I had had the chance to use Excede, I have come to the conclusion that life is challenging and some aspects even more so in Baja!

Good luck in resolving your internet issues. Maybe look at it as increasing your level of patience.::)

Russ - 11-2-2016 at 10:11 AM

Larry
Yep that's what I did. I'll consider myself lucky!

Abiding in Baja

Alexmcnc - 11-2-2016 at 10:55 AM

HI Guys, yes the first "fix" was the installation of new 16 digit code. Also many requests to unplug/turn off modem for various periods of time (and multiple permutations on these sequences). None worked for me, although this did help some of my neighbors. After these distance attempts failed, Osiris said my account was shut down by Exede for fraudulent download activity, and accused me of downloading pirated movies. That's when I knew the game had changed and he was positioning for blame shift (I don't download pirated media and wasn't even in Baja between June and October). My supposition is that when it became apparent he would have to incur the expense of either personally visiting San Juanico w some new modems, or paying Jose Davila to do it, he made the economic decision to abandon me and others who had no service, and try to bury any record of the relationship. Not what I would call an honorable businessman, but life goes on.

shari - 11-2-2016 at 02:44 PM

I was the receiver of a long rant by a Mexican business owner here in ASuncion who contracted Excede and it has been a nightmare for them and they are furious.....same issues...worked for a bit now it doesnt and the reps wont respond of fix it....beware!

whatever happened to alan thompson, our BCSTech?

rts551 - 11-2-2016 at 02:51 PM

Have you tried contacting Osiris on facebook. I am assuming when you call, you are calling Sat del Norte. He has always been responsive to us in Abreojos. We do have problems getting an installer over here sometimes.

mtgoat666 - 11-2-2016 at 04:09 PM

Life was simpler before Al invented the internet.

Perhaps baja is saying y'all are fated to not have internet. You know, most of the stuff on the internet is worthless or just plain wrong. Perhaps life would be easier without the internet. My last experience without the 24/7 internet was during the bill clinton administrations, was a pretty fun time in my life. Lets hope hillary brings the same fun. Im with her! A womans place is on top! Rock the vote!

Peace out!

When you say the "reps won't respond" who are the reps? Someone from Exede or someone from Ensenada "?
I know an installer that goes down to that area occasionally maybe he could help.

Have you tried contacting Osiris on facebook. I am assuming when you call, you are calling Sat del Norte. He has always been responsive to us in Abreojos. We do have problems getting an installer over here sometimes.

I contact (try) Osiris via his email address. No cellular in San Juanico. Thanks

Hi Osiris,
Thanks for your apology, I appreciate it. I also understand that being overwhelmed with technical difficulties with a satellite can be challenging. Not that I would presume to tell you how to run your business, but perhaps next time you could send out a communication to all your effected customers describing the problem and an estimated time and process to solution? In my experience, in the absence of communication, people often think the worst. It's the non response that people find frustrating.

I'm sorry if I falsely accused you of something you didn't do. The reason I assumed you changed my account information, is that you asked me several times via email for my MAC number and log in information for my.exede account. You said you needed this information to update the software, and hence solve my problem. I provided you this information, more than once, over a 3 day period. Despite my complying with your request, my connectivity issues were never resolved. Soon after I gave you my log in info you asked if I was downloading illegal content. When I went online the next day to check my account to verify your contention that Exede flagged my account for downloading illegal content, I was unable to log on, my username and/or password had been changed and/or the account had been shut down. Since this all happened within the time you had asked for my username and password for my.exede account, I assumed you had been involved. My suspicions were further aroused when your email communication stopped, and your promise to solve my problems if I provided my MAC and log in information never materialized.

In summary, I don't like making enemies. I hope this has all been a matter of circumstance and coincidence, and that you have not consciously mislead your customers, lied by omission, or outright deceived people. The takeaway for me is that Baja does not have the population density outside of major urban areas for infrastructure providers to be able to offer, maintain, and service their products on a timely basis. Hopefully we'll meet when you next visit San Juanico.

Thanks again,
Alex

Communication is everything. I have had nothing but good response from Osiris.

Here in San Bruno, Chivato, and Mulege we had some issues with a change that was done by Exede. When we talked to tech support they all suggested that we sign up for the service contract and did not do much to help us. Osiris got things up immediately when he gave us the new code and most of the people were able to get up and running. For those that had a problem, Hugho from Mulege was very helpful and he straightened out the rest of the problems.
I remember getting a little frustrated, like I did in the old days of Hughes Net, but have had nothing but very positive experiences with Osiris and said to some of my friends, I have faith in this guy and he will help us. When he got in to the office, he called me back right away and then helped me with the reset. I, then could help some of the others get going and for those that I could do nothing, Hugho came out and straightened things out. I for one am extremely happy to have this service and like a lot of things in Mexico, it is best to relax, have a tequila and wait a couple of days until everything straightens itself out.
