If only they could come to the East Cape and grab the permitted chinchoros, (gill nets), which have devastated the local inshore fishery over the last
decade.
I've called the FONMAR inspectors and they inform me that these guys have a permit. Word is, the same official that issues the permits is a silent
partner with the fish monger buying the catch.
The SOC needs a complete moratorium on all netted catches. Time is not on our side, the changes are shocking.
