Computer / Phone ideas

Good Sunday morning. While in LTO, amigo Barrett S. suggested that I look into www.iconnecthere.com for very inexpensive phone calls via internet. I've downloaded it, but am waiting for them to fix an internal glitch before I can prepay for service.

Since, I've also discovered SKYPE http://www.skype.com/ which I have already begun using (My wife calls family and friends in Taiwan for 2 cents / minute :wow:

This may be common knowledge to some, but at the risk of possibly repeating earlier posts, I wanted to put the info out there for those of you who may not know about these (or other PCPhone options).

With Skype, you can connect with other skype users anywhere in the world for free, so if you and your contact (ex: Mexico / US) both have Skype, the call is free.

You need a computer, mic and speaker (or headset), and an internet connection, so if you have these, maybe free (or very cheap calling) would work for you. Please note, I am an end user / consumer and only offer this info to help save a few pesos for bajanomad friends...

Of course there are also free chat options for Hotmail (messenger), Yahoo, etc. The unique feature of Skype, iconnecthere, and similar services, is that you can call a telephone anywhere from your computer instead of being limited to computer-to-computer only.

BTW: What are the internet service provider options in Loreto / Mulege?

Mucho Gusto! djh
