La Purisima to Mex 1?

Hello everyone,
my husband and I are travelling on big adventure motorcycle 2 up.
We want to cross from San isidro to Mex 1 using the unpaved road. We cannot find recent road conditions about this path.
We want to avoid steep hill and big loose rocks for hours and miles....

Need your help please.

The road is usually refered to as La Purisima to Hwy. 1 (south of Bahia Concepcion), if you are speaking of the San Isidro just east of La Purisima. There was some positive reports on that road recently.

I am sorry that I can not give you a report on the current condition, I last drove that road in late November 2014. It had been opened up after Odiel washed it out, but it was exactly like what you say you want to avoid!

I am sure it has been improved since then, but unless some finer fill material was brought in, there is only so much a grader can do with rocks. I was driving a small SUV pulling a utility trailer, and would not want to be on a bike riding double.

I am hoping some of the folks that have ridden it lately will chime in, but would recommend against riding it double unless you get a good report. It is nice country up there though!

Edit; You might get more results if you edit your title to include La Purisma, and welcome to the forum!

we did came across a post in 2014 and did not look to promising. But i Guess we were hoping somethings got better since. ;-)

We found a lot of info on the road to San isidro to Comodu, witch is out of the loop for us for sure.

It is our first time in Baja, and with this Big heavy bike also ( we named it el Burro)

French is our first language, sorry if our phrase are a bit direct and not has much poetry included...

We are heading back north leaving From south La Paz, and wanted to do this La Purisma to Mex 1 to see the inland, and not having to do the same road back also.

Truly appreciate respond so quick.

ok thank you both for such quick replies.
I guess we will skip on this one, it seems to be a bit challenging for both on a Big heavy Pig bike ( that we don't like!!)

We will surely be going in an out. Sounds to risky if we fall out there, it could be hard at this time of year to find a way back, and help.

This site is very very useful for us, and truly appreciate this community.

Your riding on that road really depends on your riding skills more than a type of bike. I have ridden that road on an 1100cc bike solo with not a lot of difficulty...even a Harley could do it with not much of an issue if the operator can handle a gravel road....no hills too steep and the road isn't littered with "babyhead" rocks, etc.

Now that you have be mapped and corrected as to what to call the road...:rolleyes: ...use your own judgement...the eastern section of the road might be rougher than the roads closer to San Isidro and Purisima....you can always turn back after several miles if you don't like it....two nice small towns with some old architecture....worth the investigation.

Road reports usually vary as to the level of difficulty evaluations are subjective...

Go for it....no shame in turning back....send us pictures....we love that sort of forum contribution. :coolup:

LOL, here it is, two months ago.
Camera is on a WR250X, I'm the bike that easily pulls away, KTM 690R. It's all subjective if you take a GS sized bike across that road with a pillion. Let us know what you end up doing, take pics and vid if you can. My buddy has his wife do all the photography, desert racer on a 990 Adventure, they do this road without much effort, he's got her well seasoned as a pillion.

Correct, it is a fork mount.
As Johnny used to say: Take the Slauson cut off, stop, cut off your Slauson, then take the Santa Monica Freeway, drive til' you come to the fork in the road.....
